There were two once-in-a-generation players (Ok, I guess that would make it twice-in-a-generation) in this year’s NFL draft— and my Houston Texans had the easy task of stepping up and taking either one of them with the first overall pick.
But like just about every single other move that GM Charlie Casserly has made since the team’s inception 4 years ago — the Texans managed to fuck this one up, too.
The bright side of drafting DE Mario Williams, is that when we play Tennessee twice a year, we’ll have at least one player who has half a chance of tackling Vince Young.

How telling is it that Matt Leinart’s ex-Offense Coordinator and Quarterbacks coach at USC — Norm Chow, who is now the Offensive Coordinator for the Titans — helped pick Vince Young over Leinart?

- Best 1-2 Punch — Not only did Tennessee land the best player in this year’s draft in Vince Young, but they also added USC’s best RB from last season, Lendale White.
- The Rich Get Richer — New England, already the best team in the NFL over the last 5 seasons, picked up three outstanding offensive skill position players: RB Laurence Maroney, WR Chad Jackson (widely considered to be the top WR prospect in this year’s draft), and TE David Thomas (the all time leading TE in U Texas history).
