As much as I love the old stuff, my favorite Johnny Cash song is one of the last he ever recorded, Hurt (written and originally recorded by Trent Reznor of NiN).

The video of Hurt is amazing. After you watch it, make sure to watch the Making of Hurt video. Good stuff.

  1. I’ll never forget my mom looking at me from her bed in the nursing home and saying to me, “The golden years aren’t so golden.”

I cried then. I cried now.

  2. This video and song has been haunting me all day. I’ve played it more than once. I must find the beauty in it, but it sure is hard. I guess the beauty is a life lived to the fullest..but damn this one is tough.

  4. I was pretty shocked when I first heard this one. He almost does it as good as NIN.
