The Daily Kos took daily beatings

While there’s nothing funny about school yard bullies, you can always pick out the adults who were on the receiving end of those beatings.

Ace of Spades thinks he’s spotted one:

You can tell the sort of people who were bullied a lot as kids. Not that they deserved that. But they carry that with them for the rest of their lives, often becoming, well, douchebags like Kos. They’re in an arrested-development perpetual drive for vengeance against their childhood tormentors, and, if they can’t be found, anyone who vaguely reminds them of those tormentors — like, you know, Republicans — will do.

It’s so true.

I’m certain that the threat of litigation is the only thing preventing Markos from taking daily beatings as an adult, too.

This comment:

Beaten up in high school? It’s somewhat normal in elementary school to get into the occasional scrap…but high school?

He must’ve had NO friends.

was immediatley followed by this gem:

At high school in Berkeley, no less.

Those must have been some knock-down, drag-out brawls

And then this:

Can you imagine being the bottom of the food chain at Berkeley? I can only imagine the screwed up hippy version of Lord of the Flies that existed there. Who the hell were the bullies? Band Geeks?

Sorry. But that’s just so funny. Because it’s true.

  1. Hey, Robbie. Send one of your flag photos to Malkin.

  2. Think back to the generation of people who were kids in the teens or twenties in this country. They kicked each other’s asses on a regular basis. In fact, they did things like blow up outhouses with dynamite for fun! I don’t know why that crossed my mind when I was reading this particular post cause I hate bullies, but then I started thinking about my dad’s stories…and boy could he tell stories..and when I would hear about their pranks (and that’s what I considered them) I would laugh and laugh. Why is it no longer laughable to me? Remember little house on the prairie or some of the cowboy shows? There sure was violence then and bullies. But, they didn’t use knives and guns or brass knuckles…They used their fists and a black eye wasn’t abnormal from a scrape on the way home after school…and then they picked themselves up and dusted themselves off and beat the shit out of the next guy the next day.

    Just musing…

  3. Always reread what you write before you post it Dianne!

Ahem, of course cowboys shot each other with guns…and way back when they actually did…but I was thinking about tv cowboys…lol

    My gosh, more musing

  4. [...] The Daily Kos would hate this, as it would be a terrifying reminder of the daily school-yard beatings he took as a high school student in Berkley (it’s so hard to type “took a beating at a high in Berkley” with a straight face). [...]
