Houston Man Gets 5 Years for Soliciting a Minor

While Orlando child rapist goes free

From the Houston Chronicle:

A former Sugar Land elementary-school teacher who believed he was arranging a sexual tryst with an underage girl before authorities arrested him in a sting was sentenced to five years in a federal prison Monday.

Nemehiah Joseph Landes, 31, was arrested in February 2004 after corresponding in a chat room with a Secret Service agent whom he believed was an 11-year-old girl. He was arrested at a park, where he had arranged to meet her.

Which is good. In fact, if you locked the guy up for the rest of his life, I’d be fine with that too.

But what I’m not fine with — this guy wanted to, and tried to, but never did have sex with a minor, and still got 5 years in the pen for solicitation. But sexy little Debbie LaFave, who repeatedly had sex with a 14 year old student is walking away with no time served?

Double-standard anybody?

  2. Her lawyer, of course, would argue that putting such a beautiful woman into jail would be like giving meat to a cage full of hungry animals. She would have no chance of surviving in prison, afterall, she is sooo pretty. please, lock her up and throw away the key.
