Tom Delay at least had the integrity to step down

That's laughable. Particularly after reports that he intended to step down even before the primary but wanted to allow the GOP heirarchy to choose their own candidate. One last favor that good ole Tom can sell.

When did waiting on a person to be convicted of a crime suddenly become an ethos on the Left,

Whatever. It would be less of an issue if the Republicans weren't always standing before a judge and jury.

Preston --- "we weren't there"? Come on! When did waiting on a person to be convicted of a crime suddenly become an ethos on the Left, rather than just vilifiy the (conservative or Republican) person upon any accusation of wrong doing?

I wasn't there when Tom Delay did any of the things he's been accused of (but not yet convicted), either --- nor were you or anybody else on the Left who is screaming for his head. Tom Delay at least had the integrity to step down --- he might end up being one ethically bankrupt politician, but I'll take ethically bankrupt over morally bankrupt any day (it's sad that we seldom have a third, positive choice in our political canidates, Right or Left).

I can't and won't find any excuse for a member of Congress to attack a Cop, a true servant of the people, and then refuse to accept any accountability.

***
And, YES, I do find it to be an issue of moral bankruptcy. First, striking an officer. That puts you pretty low on my list of People with Morals. But then to claim he's also a racist, and how dare he not know who you are!?!?!

Makes her a cretin of the lowest sort.

Look, Robbie neither you or I were there. We don't know what the cop did and we don't know what McKinney did. Instinctively, I'll go with the cop because McKinney has shown herself to be a jackass before (not as bad as her father though, a Georgia state Senator in his day...)

But in the end we don't know.

As for your complaint that the left doesn't police it's own you might check out one of the 800 post Daily Kos entries on the topic. Granted many take McKinney's side- but many don't.

You may enjoy the Rude Pundits take on it - http://rudepundit.blogspot.com/2006/04/mainstream-medias-niggering-of-cynthia_05.html
I think he pretty much hits the nail on the head, in his own inimitable fashion.

It was a stupid thing to do, no doubt, but it's not like she kicked the crap out of him - it was a little scuffle - technically an assault, but not exactly anything I would make a big deal out of if it happened to me.

Are you one of the guys who called the Abu Ghraib abuse no worse than a fraternity prank?

Perhaps that's because we don't consider assaulting a cop and then playing the race/victim card to be a "little incident".

But, hey, that's just the way my momma raised me.
