Today is Take an American Flag to Work Day.
Michelle Malkin is asking readers to submit their favorite photos of the American flag. Mine is one that I took a couple of weeks ago at the burial of Marine Gunnery Sergeant John D. Fry.
I love this photo for numerous reasons — the Marines standing in the foreground bearing witness to the burial of one of their own; the Patriot Guard Riders in the background, average American citizens who came from all over to pay their respect to the Marine, his family, and his community; and the big American flag flying at half mast above all of us, reminding us all that the price of freedom is not free.

Those Marines, and all of our other troops, take their flag to work with them everyday, wearing it proudly on their uniforms.
On our Patriot Guard Riders missions, nearly all of the bikers wear leather vests with an assorment of patches sewn on them. One of the most common and one of my favorites is the American flag patch with the words “Try burning this one, asshole” written above it.
