On This Day in History

Playing off a meme from Rant Fever (via Kim du Toit, via Tim Worstall), but using today’s date rather than my own birthdate:

Go to Wikipedia, look up your birthday today’s date (without the year), and post three events, two births and one death (including the year they ocurred)

Events:

  • 1906 – An earthquake with an estimated magnitude of 7.9, destroys much of San Francisco, California.
  • 1923 – Yankee Stadium, “The House that Ruth Built”, opens.
  • 1983 – A suicide bomber destroys the United States embassy in Beirut, Lebanon, killing 63 people.

Births:

  • 1857 – Clarence Darrow, American attorney (d. 1938)
  • 1947 – James Woods, American actor and poker player
  • 1954 – Rick Moranis, Canadian comedian

Deaths:

  • 1955 – Albert Einstein, German-born Jewish physicist, Nobel Prize laureate (b. 1879)

  1. Happy Birthday (belated) Robbie!

My second child was born yesterday!

Would still like to buy you that beer sometime, so it now needs to toast your and my daughter’s birthday!
