President Bush invited the Patriot Guard Riders to the signing of this new law, which bars protests within 300 feet of the entrance of a national cemetery and within 150 feet of a road into the cemetery. This restriction applies an hour before until an hour after a funeral. Those violating the act would face up to a $100,000 fine and up to a year in prison.

From the PGR Website, the wife of Sgt. Josh Youmans (who was killed in Iraq):
I found this site after my husband’s death and the wonderful tribute that this group did at his funeral. I just joined so that I could personally thank all of the riders from Michigan who completed the mission at his funeral back in March 2006. I also was at the White House and very honored to stand beside the five men who attended the bill signing with the president.
You are all truly remarkable people and it is completely humbling for the families to have people, who we often do not know, show such dignity, honor and respect for our loved one’s who sacrificed their lives in service for our country. I was so happy to find out that representatives from the Patriot Guard were at the signing because it is not just a labor of love for us to have this piece of legislation put into law but yours as well. Job well done and thank you from a very grateful wife of a fallen soldier and American hero.
