Veterans determined to stop them

Disgusting cowards.

A POW/MIA flag flies over the Hays County Veterans memorial in San Marcos to honor the more than 1,000 names on the memorial.

Since last year, the flag has been stolen three times — most recently on May 16, just days before Memorial Day.

To Oscar Guzman, who served in the Marine Corps. during the Vietnam War, the flag means more than just remembering those who didn’t make it back. Looking up at the memorial’s empty flag pole, he said he’s reminded of fallen friends in battles he fought.

“I guess they know how to hit a person in the stomach, and the gut, you know,” Guzman said. “The MIA flag means a whole lot to the veterans.”

I hope these cowards are caught. In the act. By a few Veterans.

Regardless, these pathetic, cowardly thieves won’t win:

Moreno said he was waiting until just before Memorial Day to put it back up to make sure it didn’t get stolen before the holiday. If that happens, though, another will go right back up.

“We’ll keep at it,” Guzman said. “Just like a firefight, we’re going to come back just as strong.”
