More Dead Muslim Terrorists
From the Centcom News Wire (via Capt Ed):
CENTCOM announced minutes ago that one of the men expected to take the place of the now-room temperature Abu Musab al-Zarqawi has also reached thermal equilibrium near Baghdad. The spokesman for the military briefed reporters on the death of Sheikh Mansur, displaying before and after mug shots of the dead terrorist and explained his significance to the insurgent network in Iraq. So far, none of the wire services have picked up the story; I will fill in the details as they become available.
BAGHDAD, Iraq – Coalition forces detained a senior al-Qaida in Iraq network member and three suspected terrorists during coordinated raids southwest of Baqouba June 19.
The terrorist is reportedly a senior al-Qaida cell leader throughout central Iraq , north of Baghdad . He’s known to be involved in facilitating foreign terrorists throughout central Iraq , and is suspected of having ties to previous attacks on Coalition and Iraqi forces.
And this, too:
BAGHDAD, Iraq – Coalition forces killed 15 terrorists and detained three other suspects during simultaneous raids north of Baqouba June 20.
Coalition forces came under immediate small arms fire from a rooftop upon arrival to the objective area. The ground force returned fire, killing nine armed terrorists on the rooftop, and an additional two armed terrorists who were identified firing on Coalition forces from next to the building, were killed by Coalition aircraft supporting fire.
Uncle Jim, a damned-fine American, writes at BlackFive:
We can mourn the loss of the two 101st troops whose bodies they recovered today, but we can also celebrate the fact that none of these jihadi scumbags will do much more than enjoy their 72 goats.
Yep, that’s good news indeed, Uncle Jim. Dead terrorists is always a good thing.

I still think this is few and far between. With the high number of terrorists throughout the area, I would expect our soldiers to be able to round alot more terrorists than we have heard about. Sure killing the leader of al-Qaida was big, but there are thousands of him out there. One major point to consider is that his cell was not even responsible for most of the civilian deaths in Iraq. Al-Zarqawai only gained notoriety for killing several US contractors.
