Timothy Titsworth (34) will be executed tonight by the state of Texas for the 1993 murder and robbery of his 26-year old girlfriend, Christine Marie Sossaman.
Titsworth and Sossaman were living together in a trailer together in Amarillo, TX at the time.
Titsworth (20 at the time) confessed to the crime, stating that he was high on cocaine when he took an axe from the closet and struck Sossaman while she slept. Sossaman was struck 16 times with the axe, excluding the defensive wounds on the her hands and legs.
According the medical examiner, Sossaman could have lived anywhere from 20 minutes to “a number of hours” after the initial attack. After she died, she suffered at least one more blow from the axe in a separate episode from the initial attack.
Titsworth then stole her credit cards and car and fled. He confessed to returning to the trailer several more times following the killing to steal additional property to sell for crack cocaine.

Titsworth and his supporters don’t believe little Timmy should be executed because he didn’t axe Christine to death as part of a robbery (though he did rob her), but rather it was a “lover’s quarrel”. The robbery would make the murder a capital crime.
Personally, I don’t care if it was a lover’s quarrel or a robbery. The man axed a woman to death while high on crack. I can’t think of a single extenuating circumstance where this piece of trash deserves to live another day.

UPDATE: At 6:20 p.m. this evening, Timothy Titsworth was pronounced dead. In his final words, Titsworth unexpectadly apologized to the mother and orphaned daughter of his victim:
“There are no words to describe the pain and suffering you went through all the years I’ve had. All these years, that is something that I cannot take back from you all,” Timothy Titsworth said as he was strapped to the death chamber gurney. “Today, I hope you get peace and joy. I’m sorry it’s taken 14 years to bring closure.”
Which of course is total bullshit. The reason it took 14 long years was because his pathetic, lying ass kept appealing his sentence. If he at anytime really felt remorse and wanted the family to get some closure, he should have slit his own wrist or hung himself in his cell a long time ago.
