My youngest brother is a station commander of a US Army Recruiting Station, like the writer of this new blog that I’ve just added to my blog roll.
Recruiting Tirade is “a blog about my experiences, frustrations, joyfull moments (however few they are) and general overview of life as an Army Recruiter.”
The author doesn’t provide his real name or location, which is understandable. But he does add this bit of information:
I am an Army Recruiter who sold my soul to the demons of USAREC. Yes, I am a 79R. However I like to think of myself as a recruiter’s 79R. In truth I don’t identify with most 79R’s. This is the hardest job I’ve ever had to do but I think it’s one of the most important jobs in the world so I do it and continue to volunteer to do it. In the words of the late Ronald Reagan “If not us, Who? If not now, When?”
I have a special affinity for Army Recruiters, as I understand how difficult their jobs are — made all the tougher by anti-war, anti-patriotic, and often anti-American progressives (who claim to “support the troops” while they chase them off college campuses and vandalize their offices).
I decided to blogroll this fine Soldier after reading his post on 5 Steps to Becoming a Liberal:
I figured out how to be a liberal by reading this stuff. Here’s the trick.
- Make outrageous claims.
- Don’t attempt to back up said claims with any kind of evidence.
- Don’t offer any type of specific solutions to anything, only speak in generalities (again without evidence).
- Label any criticism of your ideas (or lack thereof) as bigoted, racist, fascist, hateful, out of bounds, no fairsies, or do-over.
- Blame failure to get elected on the things in #4.
Therefore I’ve decided that being a conservative is tiring so I’m going to become a liberal. I figure it requires less thought, less energy, and I’ll get more sleep.
All those Liberals out there who claim to “support” the troops and contend that their dissent is patriotic — I wonder how it make them feel to know that the overwhelming majority of the men and women serving the US Military mock and despise them?
H/t to Jack Army (another Army Recruiter blogger)

That 5 step program is a hoot of self-satire.
You are mistaken when you claim that an overwhelming majority of troops mock and despise those of us who oppose this president’s wreckless policies. Perhaps a slim majority disagree with us, but most of them are too well-trained and dignified to mock and despise those they disagree with. That’s the domain of right-wing bloggers.
