The al Qaeda Times of New York continues her slippery-but-steady decline into tabloid news territory with their latest column, which reports that the US Military is becoming a haven for Skinheads and Neo-Nazis:

Recruiting shortfalls caused by the war in Iraq have allowed “large numbers of neo-Nazis and skinhead extremists” to infiltrate the military,… estimated that the numbers could run into the thousands.

If anybody at the al Qaeda Times of New York had ever actually served in the Army or Marines, they would know that the “skin head” haircut is actually just the regulation military haircut required of all recruits.

Notice that I’m filing this story under Stupid News, it’s such a laughable fabrication of the truth.

Now, if the al Qaeda Times of New York wants to do a factual piece on the infiltration of anti-semitism into a large institution, it should have started at the DailyKos — the defacto blog of the Liberal MSM.

If you read the article, you’d see that they’re not talking about haircuts.

And if you read the article (or knew a few actual military recruiters), you’d know that they’re not talking about facts, either.

I was making fun of them about the haircuts; I’m just not a very good satirist.

I’d say that quotes from DoD investigators are pretty factual. How would you explain Aryan nation graffiti in Baghdad. The report quotes Scott Barfield, a Defense Department investigator, saying, “Recruiters are knowingly allowing neo-Nazis and white supremacists to join the armed forces, and commanders don’t remove them from the military even after we positively identify them as extremists or gang members.” Note that it is NOT saying all recruiters are doing so - but some may be.

I don’t understand your hostility toward the New York Times for reporting a legitimate issue and relying on DoD investigators. Just because you don’t like what it says doesn’t mean it’s not legitimate to report on it.

Your satire, however, was well done . . .

Being that I am a recruiter I can speak with (a small amount) of authority. There are really only two things that I as a recruiter can go by to give me an indication of whether or not someone is a Nazi (or any other variation of extremist.) 1) Tattoos. But the problem is that a tattoo is not a definitive indicator. A good example is the Celtic cross. Lots of people have Celtic crosses tattooed on them who are not remotely racist, however some extremist groups have hijacked the Celtic cross as their symbol. A tattoo has to be recorded on a form when someone joins. Any tattoo that is even remotely questionable has to be reviewed by no fewer than 5 people, and possibly more, before that person is accepted. I seriously doubt that you could find a “coalition of the willing” to go along with passing people through with racist tattoos. 2) Law violations. This one is not definitive either because if he never got caught beating the crap out of people because they were black or spray painting swastikas on bridges then I will never know. If he did get caught doing something like that then he will not get in. Those are the only indicators that I have that someone is an extremist/racist. I have no way of knowing someone’s thoughts. Sorry, can’t do anything about that until they hire Miss Cleo to come work for USAREC. Anecdotally, I have never run into someone with a questionable tattoo but I have turned someone down for a race crime. I know SFC B has turned someone down for a tattoo (among other things.) I laughed at this article and showed it to the other four guys that work with me, and they all thought it equally fictitious. I can’t speak for the other side of the fence except to say that I have never met anyone in the Army that gave me any indications that they were an extremist/racist, either in words or deeds. Hope that clears a few things up about the recruiting end of things.

Got something you want to say?
