The Miss Universe 2006 contest (do they still call it a pageant?) will be held in Los Angeles, CA on Sunday, July 23.
Their new Web site is fun to poke around, and makes good use of video (each contestant even has a Vblog — you can even subscribe to each contestant’s RSS feed for their respective Vblogs).
Some contestants look amazing in their bikini photo (Miss Puerto Rico), but the video doesn’t do them many favors…
While, some women (Miss Australia) shine more in their videos than their photos…
My favorite contestant, Miss Mexico (23-year old Priscila Perales), looks amazing in her photo shoots and has a great video (her English is flawless—in fact, you have to really listen to pickup any Mexican accent).
My choice for First Runner-up is Miss Zambia (23-year old Mofya Chisenga) — just watch her video, listen to her talk about Zambia, and tell me that you wouldn’t want to have her as your tour guide on an African safari.
h/t to John at Powerline, who likes Miss Sri Lanka, whom he thinks “looks ravishing and sounds as though she grew up in Wisconsin.”

I don’t doubt that many of the contestants did grow up in Wisconsin.
