For calling terrorists terrorists

This is rich:

Shoura Council Chairman Dr. Saleh Bin-Humaid yesterday called for a public apology from US President George W. Bush for linking Islam and Muslims with fascism and terrorism.

If Dr. Bin-Humaid is unaware of acts of terrorism that can be linked to Islam and Muslims…maybe he should scan this list. I can see many, many links (do the numbers 9/11 and 7/7 ring any bells, Doc?) between Islam, Muslims, fasicism, and terrorism.

Just to hammer home his point that Islam and Muslims have nothing to do with terrorism, Dr. Bin-Humaid adds:

He [Dr. Bin-Humaid] also warned against deliberate smear campaigns targeting Islam, saying they would have dangerous consequences.

As Charles at LGF pointed out, “Ah, what would an Islamic fascist rant be without the veiled threats?”

In his statement, Bin-Humaid said the attack on Islam and the Prophet would only strengthen Muslims’ faith in their religion. He urged Muslim governments and organizations to take effective steps to prevent attempts to spread hatred of Islam and Muslims.

Suggested preventive measures to prevent others from spreading hateful lies about Muslims and terrorism include beheadings, suicide bombings, exploding buildings, and crashed commercial airliners.

A reminder from the Free Republic (from last year):

The present Islamic terrorists are a result of the split within Islam between Muslims who wish to live in the 21st century, secular Muslims, and the followers of “True Islam” who want the world to be ruled by Islamic Sharia law with the Quran as the new world constitution.

Islamic terrorism started long before there was an Israel. Sunni and Shia Muslims have been killing each other since the death of Mohammed.

Perhaps Bin-humaid would better serve his cause by not spreading hatred of those not wishing to follow Islam. What a stinking hypocrite.

I was going to agree with you- who could disagree with that statement? But- alas- I’ve learned I have to click the link around here and once again your paraphrasing is a misrepresentation of the speaker’s quote who does not want to equate Islam and fascism.

I admit that I initially had no real problem with the phrase Islamofascism: it seems rather apt for such totalitarian forms of thought. But if this phrase offends the same people we need to take over in the Middle East what are we gaining by using such rhetoric?

Well, that’s a pretty transparent ploy to wash the blood off of George Bush’s hands.

Imagine living over there. What a friggin nightmare. No answer in sight. Bush is going to have to bring our guys home before he leaves office whether he says so or not. We cannot allow any more of our military people to die while the crazy Sunnis and Shias kill each other off. God only knows what Iran will do, no pun intended.

Once again, Preston bends over for allah!

Your comment is the rhetorical equivilent of ‘Yo Mama!’.

Feel free to contribute some thing substantive to the discussion.

Maybe it will be like India and Pakistan..millions will die and separate governments will be determined afterward. So be it. That’s what they want anyhow. The bloodshed is inevitable, whether Bush is in office or not.

Clearly the bloodshed was not inevitable- or else it’s an incredible coincidence that a civil war began shortly after the US invaded Iraq.

Sadly, it was obvious enough even to George Bush’s father that our country was making a mistake: “We’re going into Baghdad. We’re going to be an occupying power — America in an Arab land — with no allies at our side. It would have been disastrous.”

Whether the bloodshed “was” or “was not” inevitable is not the point. Whether Bush was right to rely on his intelligence and the WMD issue is not the point. We’re there .. in the midst of a civil war .. and we have to get out sooner or later. We can’t stop their civil war. We can’t stop Iran from fueling it by any conventional means. The UN has proven to be totally useless and corrupt and of no help. There is no other choice than to get out in the safest way for our troops.

I admit I have totally changed my mind on the Iraq war but it is probably not for the reasons you think. I still believe today they had WMD that were either destroyed or spirited out of the country while the UN REFUSED to enforce their own resolutions and did not stand by their own mandates or support the U.S. in any way. In the past several months ever since that Shia mosque was blown up by the Sunnis secular violence has gotten a lot worse, to the point that it is overshadowing the war on the terrorists in the country. We can’t win so we need to get out.

One final word about the UN. I despise the organization. I want us out of there as much as I want us out of Iraq. Over and over again they fuck over the U.S. and we tolerate it. I would throw their asses out of New York and stop every dime of support. Grrrrrrrrrrrr

and Goodnite

We’re there .. in the midst of a civil war .. and we have to get out sooner or later. We can’t stop their civil war.

Probably right, alas. I have resisted the temptation to advocate a US withdrawal but we are only there with the hope of improving the situation. If the situation isn’t improving our presence doesn’t seem to be needed.

Regarding the UN: yipes.

If anybody ever kills any Muslims and starts feeling bad about it, my e-mail is always open if you want to get it out of your systems. Your secret will be safe with me.

Got something you want to say?
