Demise of the MSM

The Art of Fauxtography

Charles Johnson at Little Green Footballs has coined a new term to describe the MSM’s penchant for doctoring photos and presenting them as real news: Fauxtography

This isn’t really anything new…it’s just become more obvious this week.

First we have al Reuters and their Lebanese war photographer, Adnan Hajj, who was busted obviously altering (via PhotoShop) images to make Lebanon (and Hezbollah) to appear more sympathetic.

It’s been long suspected that many more photos from the war on terror are being staged (which in many ways is much more dishonest and complicit than altering images). But there hasn’t been much proof.

Until today. The Gateway Pundit has busted the al Qaeda Times of New York posting such obviously staged “war” photos, that you have to ask yourself if the Times is complicit in this fraud or are they just that professionally inept (my money is on a heavy dose of the former, with a large heaping of the later)?

So, dead guy began his day assisting the photographer, then scrambled over debris, then fell dead. Perhaps the caption should have read “don’t help – you’ll end up dead”.

Michelle Malkin has more examples.
