Just another example of the “good” and “honest” people sneaking across our borders for a chance at a “better life”:
The brothels in eastern Travis County and Oklahoma City were part of a multistate prostitution ring partially broken by federal agents in recent weeks, according to court documents. The brothels used women from Mexico as well as Central and South American countries and catered mostly to undocumented workers, court documents show.
The men accused of working for Balderas pleaded guilty in federal court to transporting and harboring illegal aliens, served 15 months in prison and were deported.
Let’s see: the Mexicans running these brothels on the outskirts of town? Illegal immigrants. Their clientele? Illegal immigrants. The poor women who were held in indentured servitude and forced into prostitution? Illegal immigrants.
I wonder if Balderas let his sex slaves have the day off on A Day Without Immigrants?

If we could just get rid of those immigrants we wouldn’t have any prostitution!

No, Preston.
But if we could cut back on illegal immigrant prostitution, their illegal immigrant pimps, and their illegal immigrant johns…than vice cops could spend more time cracking down on good ol’ fashioned, home-grown illegal prostitution.
Right.
Even ignoring the fact that you are using a mere anecdote to suggest that illegal immigrants are are more prone to crime than native-born Americans your statement doesn’t hold up. In 1990, New York City had a population of 7.3 million people and 2,245 homicides. Last year New York had added about 800,000 people- a huge percentage of them illegal immigrants- and yet only had 540 homicides.
This is not isolated to New York: it is indisputable that the US has millions more illegal immigrants than we did 20 years ago yet perhaps just 50% of the crime.
While it is desirable to reduce the number of illegal immigrants (particularly as the right strips them of health care and education making them an even greater burden on our society) specious arguments really undermine your cause by making people like me who are sympathetic to the ends distrustful of your means.
