3 days, 8 stages, 130 bands — all within a short bicycle ride from my house. That’s the Austin City Limits (ACL) Music Festival. And it starts today at 11:15 a.m. with Claire Small.

Here’s the complete list of all 130 bands playing this year.

These are the acts I definitely plan on watching:

Friday

  • Terri Hendrix @ 1:00
  • Gnarls Barkley @ 4:30
  • Trish Murphy @ 7:00
  • Van Morrison @ 8:30

Saturday

  • Los Lobos @ 4:30
  • Aimee Mann @ 5:30
  • Kings of Leon @ 7:30
  • Willie Nelson @ 8:15

Sunday

  • KT Tunstall @ 2:30
  • Jack Ingram @ 3:30
  • Ben Harper @ 6:30
  • G. Love & Special Sauce @ 7:45
  • Tom Petty @ 8:30

During gaps in my schedule, I’ll just wander around and discover some great new music — or perhaps walk over to Barton Springs and take a quick swim in the year-round 68-degree spring waters.

If you can’t be there, you can enjoy via the Live Webcast.

I almost had to hate you for posting this… I love live events!

You’ve been spared since my boyfriend and I rode up through Tarpley, Utopia, Uvalde, (Devil’s Backbone), Leaky, Hunt, Medina, Kerrville, and back to Bandera. **sigh**

It was beautiful riding weather… ran into some old friends, made new ones, and overall it truly sucks to be back home.

I’m actually jealous of you. That is one of my favorite rides.

I always stop at the Steel Horse Cafe in Tarpley for a cold beverage and a bite to eat. It’s been a while since I made that ride, though. In fact, sadly, the last time I did was on my way home from a PGR funeral in Utopia.

I need to take a weekend and make that ride before the weather turns cold (or at least as cold as it gets in these parts).

It’s fabulous out there… we did stop by the Steel Horse, among others. They’re always so hospitable, and the chef takes great pride in her fresh menu items (fries and okra being the only exception).

Our next excursion will include the other half of my favorite ride, out through Boerne to Blanco, up to Luchenback, Fredericksburg, and back through Center Pointe.

Just a few years ago, as a novice rider, my (very) first ride was the Massacre Rally out of Boerne. If you’ve never participated, it’s a blast… pretty cold, but definitely a great notch in my belt.

Got something you want to say?
