The Republicans are scared out of their wits, and are willing to surrender the right to privacy and the moral high ground on issues such as torture, because they want "grown-ups" to protect them. The Democrats are more courageous and dignified, and are able to face the future without wetting themselves, or looking for "grown ups" like Cheney to seize power and protect us.
