The Age has the following headline: Youths set passenger bus alight in Paris.
Here’s the first paragraph of the story:
A band of up to 30 youths forced passengers out of a bus in a southern Paris suburb in broad daylight, set it on fire and then stoned firefighters who came to the rescue, a police official said.
The story continues on for 468 words. However, not one of those words is Islam, Muslim or terrorist.
Which is unfortunate. Because the fact that these “youths” are Muslim terrorists should be a very prominent and important aspect of this story. But the author’s and ediors’ unwillingess to “offend” the Religion of Perpetual Outrage is a cowardly act of dhimmitude.
The Associated (with terrorist) Press (AwtP) has more on French “youths” attacking police officers:
On a routine call, three unwitting police officers fell into a trap. A car darted out to block their path, and dozens of hooded youths surged out of the darkness to attack them with stones, bats and tear gas before fleeing. One officer was hospitalized, and no arrests made.
The recent ambush was emblematic of what some officers say has become a near-perpetual and increasingly violent conflict between police and gangs in tough, largely immigrant French neighborhoods that were the scene of a three-week paroxysm of rioting last year.
One small police union claims officers are facing a “permanent intifada.” Police injuries have risen in the year since the wave of violence.
To their credit, the AwtP does include a quote from a police union as to who these otherwise unidentified “youth” might be:
Michel Thooris, head of the small Action Police union, claims that the new violence is taking on an Islamic fundamentalist tinge.
“Many youths, many arsonists, many vandals behind the violence do it to cries of ‘Allah Akbar’ (God is Great) when our police cars are stoned,” he said in an interview.
If anything like this starts happening here in the states, I hope our law enforcement officers are given orders that allow them to 1) protect themselves by any means necessary, and 2) prevent these Islamist “youths” from continued rioting and spreading their violence by any means necessary.
And “by any means necessary” I do mean “overwhelming force and firepower”.
Well the only good thing about all this in Europe is that we here in the United States are watching it and realize what will happen if we follow their failed model. Things will get worse over there before they get better, if they ever get better.
Dianne- what is the failed model? Seriously. I’m not sure that the situation is so simple that you can draw a simple lesson. If you go to Paris you will see that there is much more integration of immigrants and children of immigrants there yet somehow indications are that they are not doing well economically. If you have an answer I’d love to hear it.
Not to worry, good sir. Rule #1 has always been:

Preston – I can’t solve the problems but it is apparent what has caused the problems – too much tolerance of the Islamic culture in westernized countries and we cannot allow that to happen here. Yes, we are a nation of immigrants but by in large all immigrant populations have adapted to the culture of this country. In the UK, a large percentage of muslims want a separate Sharia law. Some blatantly call for terrorist attacks against their own country and have been allowed to get away with it. That’s what I’m talking about. Here’s an interesting article.

too much tolerance of the Islamic culture
Of course, on the face of it is just the opposite, if you remember France banning the wearing of head scarves amongst school girls- a ridiculous measure could never become law here where Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof.
Preston..Please give me an example where children wearing the full Muslim attire (eyes only showing) are allowed to wear that in a U.S. school.
Or a teacher..and I’m speaking of public schools of course.
Diane- I’ve never seen a child wearing the full face-concealing hijab until well after puberty. I have seen girls wearing head scarves and I’m sure many wear them to public schools. The Bush Administration has protected this right.
Incidentally, the act that banned head scarves in France attempted to be equally enforced so it banned all “conspicuous religious symbols” including ‘Jewish headcoverings, large crucifixes, and other visible signs of faith’. I can’t believe you support this.
For what it’s worth I hate the full face-concealing head wear- I think it is an outrage against women to wear these things, depriving them of their individuality and personality. But, really, it’s none of my business, is it?
Thanks for the reference, Preston. I did a little bit of reading and found a settlement was reached allowing her to wear her headscarf. Honestly, I don’t think that’s so bad, but where does it all go from here and where does it end. Bout time for mandatory school uniforms across the board. This is just the tip of the iceberg.
