Just one more reason to hate Rep. John Murtha (D — PA):
Outside Washington, Mr. Murtha, a Vietnam veteran and longtime hawk, may be best known for his break with the president over the Iraq war last fall. But inside the Capitol, he is best known for turning earmarks into power. As the top Democrat on the House military spending subcommittee, he often delivers Democratic votes to Republican leaders in a tacit exchange for earmarks for himself and his allies. . .

If your jihad against Murtha was inspired by his desire to get American troops out of Iraq I can’t wait to hear what you say about Senator Frist’s plans for Afghanistan- the actual origins of al Qaeda and the September 11 attacks.
Jihad against Murtha? I don’t want to kill the man…I just want him out of Congress.
As for Senator Frist, I’m satisfied with his response to the AP story on his trip to Afghanistan, which he characterizes as “badly distorted” and “out of context”.
Since I now consider the AP to be Associated “with terrorists” Press, I don’t doubt this to be true. Additionally, if you’ll read his actual press release (rather than the Aw/terroristP spin), you would see he said no such thing:
Emphasis mine. Sen. Frist is calling for brining in the tribes targeted by the Taliban — not the Taliban — into the Afghan govn’t.
It’s a big difference.
And my hatred of Rep. Murtha has very little to do with his call to bring the troops home. It has more to do with him charging innocent Marines as guilty based on his own bias and without trial; it has more to do with his attempts to undermine Marine Corps recruiting efforts. I deplore the man for being an unpatriotic, terrorist appeasing, ex-Marine (not former-Marine).
There’s a reason the whole of the current Marine Corps deplores this man and the rest of the brotherhood of the US military despises Murtha. And it has nothing with him wanting to “bring them home”.
Murtha has stated that if he were eligible to join the Marine Corps today, he would not do so. Which is good for him…if he were a Marine today holding his current values, he would be a likely candidate for a “Code Red”.
Hey Robbie,
The link that you posted did not work. Here is the right link
Robbie,
I apoligize, here is the correct link.
I’m not sure how Frist’s clarification that: Our counter-insurgency strategy must win hearts and minds and persuade moderate Islamists potentially sympathetic to the Taliban to accept the legitimacy of the Afghan national government and democratic political processes squares with your belief that we should treat Muslims as worshipers of the religion of perpetual outrage.
