Jack Abramoff Fingers Corrupt Democrat Senators

Jack AbramhoffThe Left went into hysterics (and, nearly rightly so) about the Jack Abramoff scandal where Jack bribed a bunch of Republican politicians.

If the Left was so quick to believe the Abramoff-Republican scandals, will they be equally open to believing the Abramoff-Democrats scandal?

Sources close to the investigation say Abramoff has provided information on his dealings with and campaign contributions and gifts to “dozens of members of Congress and staff,” including what Abramoff has reportedly described as “six to eight seriously corrupt Democratic senators.”

We already know that Harry Reid took large sums of money from Abramoff — any guesses on who the other 5-7 “seriously corrupt” Democratic senators are?

No, we don’t know that Harry Reid took any money whatsoever from Abramoff. That’s a lie, and you should be ashamed of yourself for spreading it.

On the other hand, if it does come out that Abramoff bribed democrats, I’ll be happy to see them convicted.

But Abramoff didn’t work just with Republicans. He oversaw a team of two dozen lobbyists at the law firm Greenberg Traurig that included many Democrats. Moreover, the campaign contributions that Abramoff directed from the tribes went to Democratic as well as Republican legislators.

Among the biggest beneficiaries were Capitol Hill’s most powerful Democrats, including Thomas A. Daschle (S.D.) and Harry M. Reid (Nev.), the top two Senate Democrats at the time…

And from the Associated(w/t) Press:

Senate Democratic Leader Harry Reid wrote at least four letters helpful to Indian tribes represented by Jack Abramoff, and the senator’s staff regularly had contact with the disgraced lobbyist’s team about legislation affecting other clients.

The activities _ detailed in billing records and correspondence obtained by The Associated Press _ are far more extensive than previously disclosed. They occurred over three years as Reid collected nearly $68,000 in donations from Abramoff’s firm, lobbying partners and clients.

What part of that is a lie?

Robbie-
I certainly hope that any corrupt Democrats are whisked out of office.

Just to clarify:
Jack Abramoff was a lobbyist. He had clients on whose behalf he appealed to Congress.
Abramoff, to my knowledge, never gave any money to Democrats- in fact he is a part of the Republican ‘machine’ as a former Chairman of College Republican National Committee.
However, many of his clients did give money to Democrats. The most frequently cited of these are Indian tribes that were double crossed and bilked of their money by Abramoff and Ralph Reed.

It has been demonstrated that many of these tribes were large Democratic donors before becoming Abramoff clients and then reduced their donations afterwards.

There is no crime in these tribes giving money to Democratic congressmen.

The lie part was when you said that Reid took large sums of money from Abramoff. That hasn’t been shown anywhere that I know of.

Seems like I heard Hillary was one, in fact I heard that quite some time back. But I wouldn’t swear to it. But, if she took money from Abramof, can Chuckie boy Schumer be far behind?

Not looking good for Reid:

A source close to the investigation says Abramoff told prosecutors that more than $30,000 in campaign contributions to Reid from Abramoff’s clients “were no accident and were in fact requested by Reid.”

Just because Jack didn’t physically put the money in Dirty Harry’s palm, doesn’t mean that it wasn’t dirty bribe money just the same.

Truth is truth, and you don’t have it. You claimed that Reid took money from Abramoff, and that was false. Admit it and move on.

This is like Fox News repeatedly calling Mark Foley a Democrat.

Jack Abramoff was Chairman of the College Republicans National Committee. He is a Republican.

Heh. I don’t know Preston. Richard does live in San Francisco, so he probably just assumes everybody in the world is a Democrat.

While Abramoff is clearly a Republican, he appears to be an equal opportunity lobbyist — the man would take money from or bribe anybody, regardless of party affiliation. Just ask Harry Reid.
