I’v been using Spam Karm 2 for quite some time now to help me catch and block comment and trackback spam — and it’s been exceptionally effective.
However, lately, I’ve been fighting an uphill battle against spam coming from one particular domain — Blogspot.
One of the things I most enjoy about blogging is interacting with my readers — I enjoy knowing that people are not only reading what I write, but also reacting to it. And I want to keep my blog comment functionality as easy and accessible to as many readers as possible — which means that I do not want to make readers Login or Register in order to comment. Nor do I want them to have to enter a captcha.
But I’m getting tired of spending the energy fighting the massive amounts (~75 daily) of spam being generated from Blogspot sites.
So until further notice, I have added the .blogspot.com domain to my Domain Blacklist. Which means that if you host your blog at Blogspot (Blogger), and you enter your blog’s URL when leaving a comment, it will automatically be blocked.
I have made an attempt to add specific known good Blogspot blog URLs of some of my more frequent commenters (Recruiting Tirade, The PaganTemple, LeLowry, YourHoliness, Sailorcut, Thinksink) to my Domain Whitelist (which means that you shouldn’t have any trouble commenting AND leaving a link back to your blog).
I’ll monitor my captured Spam list and try to approve and whitelist any more valid Blogspot blogs that get captured.

2) Why would I trust my health to a pharmacist selling “Vi@GrA”? If they can’t even spell a six letter word correctly, what are the odds of them sending me the right pills?

Robbie, after I post and submit, I get this page which pops up which has a long list of things saying I cannot modify the header, etc. I don’t have blogspot or any blog for that matter???
