Funniest line from Ace of Spades: Murtha says the voting was “total crap.”
________
Speaker Pelosi gave Rep. John “Total Crap” Murtha a political reach-around by trying to strong arm her party into voting for him. Unfortunately for Murtha, Nancy wasn’t able to give him the happy ending they were both hoping for.
Spin it how you want, but this is a slap in the face of Pelosi’s grandiose visions of how she was going to run the show.
The Huffing-and-Puffing Post is — of course — spinning Hoyer’s election as a win for Nancy. Despite the fact that the Blue Dog democrats who carried their party to a majority last week clearly stood up to her far-left ideology.
Don’t get me wrong, I’m no fan of Hoyer either…but at least he’s no Jack “Fuck the Troops” Murtha.

Blue Dog democrats who carried their party to a majority last week clearly stood up to her far-left ideology by unanimously electing her Speaker of the House.
I blame Diebold.
You do understand how the Speaker of the House is constitutionally elected, don’t you?
The Blue Dogs didn’t have a choice as to whether or not to vote for Nancy — well, they did — but that other choice was to vote for the Republican nominee.
Um, not quite.
In fact, Nancy Pelosi is not yet Speaker of the House, because the 110th Congress has not yet begun. Until then she is simply the Democratic nominee for Speaker.
Each party nominates a candidate for Speaker with the understanding that each representative will support their party’s candidate in the official vote. There is no guarantee that the election for the party’s nominee for Speaker will be uncontested. Because Pelosi is seen- rightly or wrongly- as the architect of the Democratic victory she was rewarded with a unanimous victory. However, if Blue Dog Democrats were certainly free to stand up to her far-left ideology by supporting another nominee- it is a secret ballot after all.
