I’m sorry…but didn’t the Dems — and Nancy Pelosi imparticular — run on a platform of cleaning up Congress? I think Nancy called it draining the swamp:

God, but I’d love to believe her…’cause there’s a shit-load of corruption in Congress. But this makes it pretty damned-obvious that it’s going to be Corruption-in-Congress-as-Usual:

Great. Usually, the Speaker of the House does not interfere with these in-House elections. But that’s not how Nancy rolls. Instead, she’s giving a reach-around to one of the most corrupt members of the House.
Quick…name 5 Democrats in Congress who are more corrupt than Jack Murtha? Ok…I’ll give you Rep. William Jefferson and Rep. Maxine Waters. Now name three more. Can’t do it, because there aren’t 5 Democratic congressmen that are more corrupt than Murtha.
But, to show us that she doesn’t care about the Democratic Caucus, Pelosi’s going to do what the hell she wants and make sure her boy Murtha gets to be #2.

I’m not thrilled about the choices available for Majority Leader but it’s clear that Americans voted for a new direction in Iraq and there is no other Congressman that represents that better than Murtha.
