I don’t think (at least most of the men here) get it. If this is her type of sexuality—-fine. BUT, when you agree to represent an organization like this, you’re told upfront what’s expected of you. I think that Ms. Rees is being very spoiled by asking for her title back…Does she really think she deserves it? This is a classic example of spoiled young girls who do not work for anything. So what that it happened in the past? She signed a contract. At the time she signed it she was quite aware she would not be able to fulfill the contractural obligations. She got caught.

As far as being alright, I guess that depends on how you define it. Sure, she will get offered a photo spread and make some quick money but that won’t last. She’s not particularly good looking and her looks won’t last. Her only talent is acting like a whore in public. So, I guess she has a career in porn to look forward to. Her parents must be so proud!

My personal opinion of the pictures of Katie Rees girl on girl action was just like Girls Gone Wild. Donald Trump is a successful businessman 100% and he is part of the whole Beauty Pagent thing. Rees is a human being just like everyone else. She made a mistake and everybody deserves a second chance. Hey it is the same thing that happen to Vanessa Williams when she lost her crown because she posed nude in Penthouse Magazine and look how successful she is now. Vanessa Williams is a mother of four children, married twice, she is a singer, an actress in great films such as Eraser and Soul Food and she is in ABC’s Ugly Betty which I totally love it. But my personal opinion about the Katie Rees pictures is that it is a mistake and everyone deserves a second chance.

These pageants are not only judged on looks but personality and supposedly talent. Girls should be ready to be judged in all of these areas. If they just want to be judged on looks then they should enter a wet t shirt or bikini contest. If they win a pageant they go on speaking engagements and are supposed to be a role model for other girls. I have no sympathy for any of them being de-throned by their own questionable actions. I think it is her right to behave how she sees fit but she must be ready for the judgement.

Rees, having had the knowledge of her past actions before competing, (1) should not be surprised nor upset at the reaction many people are having (is it really so hard to believe such actions would offend some people?) and (2) should do exactly what she said she would do: take responsibility. If responsibility entails being stripped of the crown, she should embrace that idea and serve as a roll model for young women that aspire to compete in pageants (i.e. inform young ladies… [and men?]) that decisions have consequences).

Basically: what’s done is done. I don’t condone nor admonish her behavior–it’s her life. However, insofar as she volunteered to become a public figure, she cannot offer any convincing argument suggesting she could not have possibly foreseen the response to her actions. What we can all take from the Rees incident is that we DO NEED TO GROW UP, i.e. we all need to stop using the excuse that we were young, dumb, etc etc… That’s a scapegoat and an unjustified ploy to separate ourselves from our actions.
