This is a story that should have much more legs — this is a story that the entire MSM should be licking their investigorial-chops to get to all the details and reveal its authenticity.

Khaled Abu Toameh at Jerusalem Post has written an article detailing how Hamas (ackowledged as a known terrorist organization by our government) has managed to stay financially afloat primarily via smuggling. But that’s not the real story.

Buried in the story is this bomb:

RAFAH, Gaza, Dec. 6 (UPI) — Hamas officials have smuggled more than $66 million into Gaza and have met with U.S. Democrats at a secret location, it was reported Wednesday.
The money covered the salaries of 69 percent of the Palestinian Authority’s 160,000 civil servants, authority Planning Minister Samir Abu Aisheh said.

This was the first time a senior Hamas official revealed the sum smuggled into the Gaza Strip through the Rafah border crossing, The Jerusalem Post reported.

The United States lists Hamas as a terrorist organization funded by Iran, Palestinian expatriates and private benefactors in Saudi Arabia and other Arab states.

Meanwhile, the Bethlehem-based Maan News Agency reported Hamas representatives recently had secret talks with U.S. Democratic Party officials in anticipation of the party regaining congressional power in Washington.

Excuse me?

IF this is true (and at this point, I don’t know if Khaled Abu Toameh is any more reliable or valid a source than Jamil Hussein — which is why our MSM needs to make getting to the truth of this claim a top-priority) — IF this is true, then it would be an unconstitutional, illegal, borderline seditious action by the Democratic officials involved or in the know.

Bill at Small Town Veteran thinks that of all the Dhimmicrats, he bets it’s Kerry.

Not a bad guess, Bill. But I think Johnny’s role as a leader in the Democratic party these days is a stretch at best.
_________

NOTE: Since the story broke yesterday, the last two paragraphs have disappeared from the story. It no longer contains the part where Hamas claims to have met with any Western officials, either in Europe or the United States. The Jerusalem Post offers no explanation for the redaction, either.

Ed at Captain’s Quarters:

I suspect the Jerusalem Post reconsidered their sourcing on the story and withdrew it without explanation, a poor journalistic choice on their part after a poor journalistic choice for including it in the first place.

At least, I hope that’s the explanation.

Me too, Ed. Because, despite my dislike and inherent mistrust of the leaders of the Democratic Party, if this is true, it’s devestating news not just to the Democratic Party, but to all of America.

But, at this point, I don’t think we can just dismiss the story completely either, as there’s too much to lose if there is any truth to it. If nothing else, every single Democrat (hell and every single Republican, for that matter) in Congress should be on record unequivocally denyng that they have ever met secretly with Hamas. That way, if the truth does come out to the contrary, we’ll be able to tack on “liar” to the rest of the treasonous charges filed against them.

________

Sigmund, Carl, and Alfred thinks that there is historical precedent to believe that this might be true:

In Teddy, Jimmy And The Question Of The Day, we recounted how Teddy Kennedy apparently went to Moscow and offered to conspire with former agents of the Soviet Union to discredit Ronal Reagan and assist in formulating a strategy that would preclude MR Reagan from assuming a second term in office.

We noted that ‘…Teddy Kennedy apparently offered to help a foreign power interfere with the internal politics of this nation.

In our post, we asked:

If Democrat luminaries such as Teddy Kennedy, Jimmy Carter, Bill Clinton, et al, had no trouble looking outside the US for political help and campaign money, why on earth should we not assume that some Dems are dealing with Iran, Syria, Al Qaeda, Hizbollah and Hamas, to further their political aims and ambitions?

If these reports are indeed true- and history gives us no reason to believe that these reports are not true- we have right to know which Democrats our enemies are consorting with and we need to investigate and determine if any classified or sensitive information was passed on to our enemies.

  1. i doubt the authenticity of the story. americans would stick out like a sore thumb over there. if there was any truth to it, someone would have seen something and it would have broken news someplace else.

  2. Isn’t treason suppossed to be a death penaly offense? If any politician is convcited of it, they need to be shot, and the execution should be televised on PBS. It would be required viewing in my household. There needs to be a constitutional amendment to the effect that any politician convicted of it can not under any circumstances be pardoned by any other politicans, including the President-who should also be publicly executed if he or she is convicted of it.

  3. I doubt this story but honestly if Ronald Reagan speaking to the Soviets doesn’t qualify as treason why should our current government speaking to Hamas be labeled as such?
