Layla Gonzalez at The Hill Chronicle has written a post in which she claims that illegal aliens kill more Americans on average every day than are killed in action in Iraq:

Twelve Americans are murdered every day by illegal aliens, according to statistics released by Rep. Peter King, R-N.Y. If those numbers are correct, it equates to 4,380 Americans murdered annually by illegal aliens. That is 21,900 since Sept. 11, 2001.

If you have ever spent more than two weeks watching the local evening news in Houston (where I grew up), this would come as no surprise to you (except the pro-open borders local MSM in Houston would never use the denigrating term “illegal”; they prefer “undocumented” or “Mexican national”).

And it’s not just murder being pepetrated by our unwanted and univited intruders:

Based on a one-year in-depth study, Deborah Schurman-Kauflin of the Violent Crimes Institute of Atlanta estimates there are about 240,000 illegal immigrant sex offenders in the United States who have had an average of four victims each. She analyzed 1,500 cases from January 1999 through April 2006 that included serial rapes, serial murders, sexual homicides and child molestation committed by illegal immigrants.

You want to bring all of our men and women home from Iraq?

OK, I’ll compromise with you: bring them all home tomorrow, and immediately redeploy all of them — with their M1A1 Abrahams tanks, their Apache helicopters, their full arsenal — to our borders (with the heaviest concentration on our Southern border).

As Layla concludes — yes, our President and our Congress does have blood on their hands. But it’s not the Soldiers’ in Iraq; it’s the blood of civilian US citizens being slaughtered in our own country by our illegal neighobrs.

  1. Illegals murder more Americans than those lost in

The media reports of the military “quagmire” in Iraq saying it tipped the scales of power in the U.S. midterm elections, but most Americans have no inkling that more of their fellow citizens – men, women and children – were murdered this year by ille…

  2. Wow! You mean out of 300 million people in the US more were killed than the 120,000 in Iraq? Shocking!!! (Unless we adjust the numbers of KIA by 3000X to adjust for the population difference)

You know of course that immigrants have lower levels of violent criminal behavior than native-born Americans.

  3. Preston – I want to see your source for the last statement please.

  4. It’s pretty widely documented. Here’s the latest I’ve seen.

  5. You know of course that immigrants have lower levels of violent criminal behavior than native-born Americans.

You’ve conflated immigrants with illegal immigrants — legal immigrants very well might be less prone to violence. I thought it was clear that I was talking about illegal aliens.

  6. Ramiro Martinez Jr., a professor of criminal justice at Florida International University, has sifted through homicide records in border cities like San Diego and El Paso, both heavily populated by Mexican immigrants, both places where violent crime has fallen significantly in recent years.

This is misleading. Violent crime has fallen because of Three Strikes Laws. Approx. 25% of the violent offenders in California prisons are Mexican nationals.

“Almost without exception,” he told me, “I’ve discovered that the homicide rate for Hispanics was lower than for other groups, even though their poverty rate was very high, if not the highest, in these metropolitan areas.”

Note, he excludes that 95% of the homicide warrants in LA are for illegal aliens.

  7. Total US military casualties in Iraq since the start of this war are ~3000. Illegal immigrants kill many more US citizens every single year in this country.

I’m not sure what’s unclear or trivial about that?

  8. Here is the direct quote of Rep. Steve King from his website (speech to the House May 3, 2006):

” About 11,000 illegals cross our southern border every day. If they were all murderers, we would double our murder rate practically just with 1 day’s supply. No, that is not the case. But the crimes that are committed by those who enter this country illegally are in significantly greater numbers than the crimes that are committed by American citizens, to the extent that 28 percent of the inmates in our prisons in the United States are criminal aliens, 28 percent. And that includes our city, our county, our State and our Federal penitentiaries. And they vary only 1 or 2 percent above or below, but they average 28 percent. And it costs us $6 billion a year to provide for the incarceration of the criminal aliens, and that is just the Federal dollars to speak of. And once we reach down into the cities, into the counties, there are other numbers out there that would grow that greater and greater. It is a minimum of $6 billion. And these numbers that I have come from, their SCAAP funding, the State Criminal Alien Assistance Plan. And all States don’t apply for SCAAP funding. So we know that these numbers are low numbers, not high numbers. But it is certain that there are more. I am just not certain how many more. But I can stand on 28 percent.

Now, that means then that criminal aliens are committing 28 percent of the crimes in the United States. And so that means 28 percent of the murders, 28 percent of the rapes, 28 percent of the violence and the assaults and battery, first- and second-degree murder and also manslaughter attacks are committed by criminal aliens. ”

This is in direct contrast to your reference, Preston, and is the testimony of a U.S. Congressman.

  9. Lies, damned lies, and statistics.

Robbie, I don’t disagree with your desire to lower the numbers of illegal immigrants and the number of people killed by them but your comparison is dishonest is many ways.

To start: You seem to suggest that illegal immigrants kill at a greater rate than Iraqi insurgents but if they did we would have over seven and a half million murder victims (300 million/ 120,000 x 3000) since 2003.

Also: By making the comparison you suggest an unsupported claim that illegal immigrants commit murder at a disproportionately higher rate than other residents.

  10. And so that means 28 percent of the murders, 28 percent of the rapes, 28 percent of the violence and the assaults and battery,

Your statistics don’t support that conclusion. Most likely it means more than 28 percent of the marijuana charges, public drunkeness, and other offenses that the poor bear more heavily than the affluent.

  11. Give me a break, Preston. How many people are in PRISON for drunkeness for petes sake. I’d bet the violent crime rate is even greater than 28%. Most of the illegals aren’t even arrested or if they are, they’re let loose. Well, no matter what anybody says, you’re going to take the side of poor, disadvantaged, law breakers over other people. That attitude is exactly what I don’t like about the democratic party.

  12. Most people sentenced to prison for violent crimes commit multiple crimes before they are caught, charged, convicted and sentenced to prison. If 28% in prison are illegal aliens, they are responsbile for a much greater % of crime than 28%.

  13. To be clear, generally people in prison are there for multiple charged burglaries, multiple charged rapes, etc. It doesn’t even take in account other crimes they have committed but are never caught on.

  14. To start: You seem to suggest that illegal immigrants kill at a greater rate than Iraqi insurgents but if they did we would have over seven and a half million murder victims (300 million/ 120,000 x 3000) since 2003.

I never suggested anything having to do with rates. That’s just how you interpreted it. Again — I’m talking total deaths.

The point is, that there is that the number of military deaths is trumpted nearly everyday by the MSM because of US policy. Conversley, there is almost no attention paid to a much more deadly crisis within our own country, which is also directly attributable to US policy (or lack of, or lack of enforcement of said policy).

  15. Robbie – you need to correct your post. It’s not Peter King, It’s Steve King – Ia.

  16. Most people sentenced to prison for violent crimes commit multiple crimes before they are caught, charged, convicted and sentenced to prison. If 28% in prison are illegal aliens, they are responsbile for a much greater % of crime than 28%.

This is illogical. Conversely, you could say if 72% in prison are non-aliens, they are responsible for a much greater % of crime than 72%.

    Dianne-
I am not ‘apologizing’ for criminals. I simply reject that American crime is related to immigration. It doesn’t even pass the smell test: there are probably 10 million more illegal immigrants in this country than in 1992 yet 1/2 as many crimes. Please, let’s enforce immigration laws but let’s not create boogie men where they don’t exist.

  17. Preston, there are recorded rates of crimes committed by illegals. however, even though in the 90′s, collection of these statistics began to be repressed by the left as they argued it was racist/xenophobic to collect this data, and their efforts have been successful. in cases where the perpetrator is not identified the crime is lumped into the total, thus boosting the rate for the “average” even when it is actually committed by an illegal. therefore the rate of crimes by illegals are necessarily under represented. crimes by citizens cannot be under-represented in this way because that category is simply the default bucket for unknown perps. i.e. the remainder.

i know this is tricky for people like preston who can’t distinguish that the knowingly misleading report he cites conflates “immigrant” by lumping together legal and illegal. and btw, considering what it takes for a legal alien to be permitted to come to the US and how their background is vetted before coming and the fact that if they commit a single crime in the US would mean they are subject to deportation, it follows that their rates would be lower than average. the truth is that the rate in the statistic preston mentioned would be much lower if it were not pulled up by all the illegals factored into the statistic.

as for an illegal, having to cross back into the US if caught and deported after committing a crime, that is not really seen as a much of a deterrent as many cross the mexican border regularly without much resistance. see criminal deportations and re-entries.

so look at the statistics and then factor in the fact that unknown perps go into raising the average rate thus axiomatically decreasing the reported illegal crime rates. illegals do far more harm than is reported.
