I meant to comment on this last week when I first read it.
Lipscomb University theologian professor Lee Camp said Christians must ‘let go’ some beliefs for sake of peace, such as:
“We need to forsake the Christendom model,” Camp said. “The most basic Christian commitment … is that we say we believe in the Lordship of Jesus. But, if we claim that, how can a Muslim or Jew trust us, if we say Jesus is the Lord of all Lords?”
See, and I was just thinking that Muslims need to let go of some of their beliefs for the sake of world peace. Especially those beliefs that have to do with cutting of the heads of infidels, flying airplanes into buildings in the name of Allah, and pretty much all other jihadist activities that result in the death of infidels.
Camp adds that, “Christians must shed the idea that they need to promulgate a worldwide Christianity, he said.”
I think Mr. Camp is insane. The primary goal of Islam is to create a world-wide Islamic nation ruled by a Caliphate, and they have no qualms killing all those who won’t submit.
Sure, those pesky Jehova’s Witnesses are annoying, and their goal is to convert as many people to their religion as they can through their testimonies. But if you slam the door in their face, their not going to break it down and cut your head off. They are not going to force you to convert at gun (or dull kitchen knife) point.

Mr. Camp has since tried to clarify what he meant in his speech. In his rebuttal of The Teennessean article, he writes this:
Because I profess that Jesus is the ultimate authority to which all other authorities must submit, that authority requires of me to extend gracious, generous hospitality to the stranger, the pilgrim, and those who do not see the world as I see it.
Which is precisely a belief that Christians should uphold and retain. He adds, “Because I profess Jesus as Lord, I must let go of any strategy that seeks to violently impose “Jesus is Lord†upon another.”
The problem, Dear Professor, is that Islamist don’t share this belief. They can’t let go the fact that you don’t acknowledge that Muhammed is the one true and final prophet. And they often do seek to violenty impose that belief on the world.

So let’s look a little deeper. Jesus did not preach violence, but forgiveness. Muslims do not preach forgiveness, but violence. Mohammed asks you to die for Islam. Jesus willingly died for you.
Some radical Christians might tell you that your going to hell, but radical Muslims will make it a quick trip.

I’m pretty much boiling over at this point after reading this post and the one on Hot Air. But, after I simmer down to a slow roll, I’m going to find a few references for y’all.
It will be a cold day in Hell when I or any other Christian will forsake our beliefs for them…period!
Not too much traffic on this subject. Ok, I have a question. Does anyone foresee a day when Christmas displays on private property (such as your front yard) VISIBLE from public property, such as streets, will be considered offensive? I see that day in the not too distant future and I see an attempt to outlaw it. Do you agree? Why or why not?
