Al Franken Abandoning the Sinking Air America?

Angry Al FrankenElizabeth Jensen and Lia Miller at the al Qaeda Times of New Yorkâ„¢ have an article about the most recent problems at failed Liberal radio network, Air America.

Scared Monkeys on the tone of the article:

Even the New York Times can not gloss over the mess that is Air America. They tried hard enough, but this is such a mess that even the Times can not put lipstick on it completely.

The article completely glosses over the role that host Al Franken played in the demise of the network. The article does not have a single mention of the Gloria Wise Boys and Girls Club, and how Al Franken knowingly took money from Air America knowing that it had been stolen from the Boys and Girls club.

But Franken doesn’t really care. He got paid (or at least partially paid):

Jeff Fecke at the Minnesota Monitor:

Comedian and author Al Franken is likely to leave his position as a radio host with Air America Radio, and is telling friends he will likely challenge Sen. Norm Coleman (R-MN) in 2008, according to a report in the New York Times.

Franken, a Minnesota native, is owed over $350,000 by the radio network.

Though Franken has said for some time he is considering running against Coleman, he has yet to formally announce his candidacy.

Running for Senator? Well, Minnesota is the place to do it…they’ll elect just about anybody there it seems. Pro wrestlers, terrorist-sympathizing organizations spokesmen…why not a guy who, when push comes to shove, is usually the one doing the pusing and shoving:

Franken, who said he was “deputized” by the Dean campaign to handle the heckler, said he did what he had to do to subdue the person trying to distract Dean from his message.

“I got down low and took his legs out,” Franken stated, explaining he needed to fix his broken glasses with electrical tape after the fall.

Franken picked up the unidentified LaRouche supporter and body slammed him to the ground.

“I was a wrestler so I used a wrestling move,” Franken exclaimed.

I can’t wait to watch him in a debate. He does know that he’s not allowed to physically attack his debate opponents, right? And that excessive vulgarity will probably not win him many points? He does know that this is not a comedy routine, right?

And attacking the Dean heckler wasn’t the first time Angry Al lost his temper and gone after someone who disagreed with him.

_________

Go read much, much more from Brian Maloney at the Radio Equalizer, who has been investigating and reporting the shady deals at Air America long before the Times got around to it:

If you’ll excuse your Radio Equalizer for having a good chuckle, sometimes reading the mainstream media’s “exclusives” is a bit too much to take. If the blogosphere beats these guys by weeks or even months to a story, can they still consider it a scoop?

  1. They won’t be particularly missed. It was amateur radio.

  2. It must be really hard to deal with Franken, because the usual talking point about effete liberals doesn’t quite work here, does it?

  3. Not really. I think he’s a big pussy who just happens to have anger management issues.

  4. If Franken beats Coleman in 2008, he might run for President in 2016. That would be cool, to see a presidential debate turn into a real brawl.
