UPDATE: He’s dead. His final statement: “Kathy, you know I never meant to hurt you,” he told the woman who also suffered 27 stab wounds during the attack. “I gave you everything and that’s what made me so angry. But I never meant to hurt you. I’m sorry.”
Didn’t mean to hurt her. Stabbed her 27 times. I’m thinking that after the 7th or 8th time he plunged the knife into her, he was definetly trying to hurt her…
__________
On Wednesday, January 10, Carlos Granados will be the first of five men scheduled for execution in Texas in January of 2007.
What did Carlos do to deserve a date with the gurney?
On Monday, Sept. 14, 1998, Georgetown police went to Katherine Jiminez’s Georgetown, TX, apartment and found Katherine and her son, Anthony, on the floor. Katherine had been stabbed numerous times and Anthony had been stabbed to death.
Katherine told authorities that following an argument on Sunday, her live-in boyfriend, Carlos Granados stabbed her repeatedly with a long kitchen knife. Granados then left the room, and Katherine heard Anthony scream, “I don’t want to die. Don’t kill me. I don’t want to die.†Stabbed in the chest, Anthony died moments later.
Meanwhile, Katherine’s family became worried that they had not heard from her, so they contacted Georgetown police, who visited Katherine’s apartment Monday morning. Officers knocked on Katherine’s apartment door and called her apartment but received no response in either case. Authorities then pried open the apartment door.
On entering the apartment, an officer saw Granados with a large kitchen knife covered in blood. The officer ordered Granados to release the knife, but Granados told police, “Shoot me, just shoot me.†Granados eventually dropped the knife and was handcuffed.
A physician later determined that Katherine, who was pregnant at the time of the attack, had nearly 30 stab wounds and a spinal cord injury that caused loss of feelings in her legs.
Stabbing a 3-year old kid to death after trying to stab his mother do death? Yeah, I’d say that warrents the death penalty.
Even the The National Coalition to Abolish the Death Penalty (NCADP) can’t come up with a good excuse not to off this pile of shit:
Granados should not be executed for his role in this crime. Executing Granados would violate the right to life as proclaimed in the Universal Declaration of Human Rights and constitute the ultimate cruel, inhuman, and degrading punishment.
That’s it? That’s all you got? No “he was framed”, “he didn’t do it”, or the old stand bye, “he had ineffective counsel”?

“…violate his right to life”?? That’s classic!
People like this are just against the death penalty, under any circumstances. It’s really a waste of time to engage them in debate, as nothing can change their minds. The best way to fight them is to continually remind the American people of the one thing these people want them to forget-the victims, who to them are just statistics on a piece of paper.
Mention the perpetrators, though, and suddenly they are on a first name basis with them. It’s sickening, the way they try to dehumanize the victims, but humanize the perpetrators.
So he’s right for executing a 3 yr old?
I am a cousin of Kathy. He is a coward and a pig. Anthony had no way of defending himself from that trash. Anthony was an angel a perfect little boy. The whole family is happy that justice will be served.
Make him pay…he deserves it.
I do a google search to see if the execution has been carried out and get all these hits: Evidence America is losing faith in death penalty. They must live in a different America than I do.
I love how ncadp says: Granados should not be executed for his role in this crime. His role? Granados was the sole perpertrator of this murder. Jeesh! The anti-dp crowd will do anything to minimize the guilt of the murderer.
I think he got it too easy, he shouldn’t have gotten executed. That was just an easy way out and he even stated when the authorities showed up at the apartment to check on katherine and Anthony. He didn’t care if the police officers shot him.
Acutally he even asked them to shoot him know he got what he wanted which was to die.
I think that he should have paid the rest of his life rotting in jail. I belive in heaven and I think the Devil got into him to commit those acts so now I hope he goes to hell.
Asking the police to shoot you when you know they won’t doesn’t prove that he wanted to die. If he really wanted to die, he had 8 years to do it himself. As to whether lwop is worse — 99% of those on death row fight their death sentence tooth and nail, so it can’t be deemed worse.
I guarantee you a dollar to a doughnut, all these people that are against the death penalty and talk about how bad life without parole is, is just using that as a means of justifying their anti-death positions. If the death penalty were ever nationally banned, they would change their minds so quick it would make your head spend. All of a sudden, you would be hearing them talk about how life without parole is cruel and unusual punishment, about how there are so many cases with mitigating circumstances, and before long you would hear them agitating for early release even of mass murderers in some cases.
Before long, it would not be unusual for people who brutally murdered their spouses to be out on parole after only serving five or six years. Still, as long as the death penalty is around, they are going to say they should rot in prison for the rest of their lives.
Get rid of the death penalty, and all of a sudden they are like, “oh, we don’t know the circumstances that drove them to that. Who knows how they were abused as kids? Shouldn’t they be given a chance to contribute to society? Who is to say they are not capable of being reformed? Shouldn’t prison be more about rehabilitation than punishment?”
Of course, most of them will deny that now, but I’m telling you, if the death penalty ever is done away with, this is exactly the scenario you can expect next from them.
For one thing, they actually believe this idiocy. For another thing, how else are they going to get people to support their groups, donate money to them? They will have to have another issue, and in most cases this will be what it will evolve to.
Glad you were smart enough to figure that out all by yourself…
awwww….
