The newest Zogby poll on Presidential hopefuls shows Democrat John Edwards as the man to beat. Which, if you watch the news at all, is bizarre, as Sen. Barack “Don’t tell ‘em my middle name is Hussein” Obama has already been anointed as the Democratic party’s nominee by the MSM.

In The Pink Texas — Austin’s best Democrat/progressive political blogger — has this take:

John Edwards is the Democrat to beat, holding a double-digit lead over his competitors. How is this possible? The guy lost a VP debate to Colonel Klink. The poll asked likely Iowa Democratic caucus-goers who they supported for commander-in-chief: a feminzai; a black man; or some white guy from the South. Little wonder.

Republican caucus participants favor John “Johnny” McCain and Rudy “Rudy” Giuliani over a Mormon and a black woman. This is IOWA, people. It doesn’t get much whiter than that, except maybe in Farmers Branch.

Edwards leads with 27 percent compared to GOP front-runner Giuliani, with 19 percent. That’s because Giuliani sounds too ethnic. For the Dems, that elusive dream candidate “Not Sure” beat out Joe Biden, John Kerry, Dennis Kucinich and Bill Richardson. For the Republicans, “Not Sure” beat everyone. Including Giuliwhati.

However, “Not Sure” still faces stiff competition from “Who Cares,” “Waiting in Vain for Mark Warner,” and “Andy Brown.”

Good stuff, Pink Lady. The run-up to the 2008 primaries is going to be a bonanza for political bloggers!

  1. As for Democrats: The Black and Hispanic vote will probably split between Obama and Edwards. I don’t think they’ll go with Hillary. The white support will go with whoever is the most liberal…either Obama or Edwards. Conclusion: Hillary loses. Between Obama and Edwards. Neither have a lot of experience. Conclusion: Obama wins.

As for Republicans: No Blacks. Some Hispanics McCain. Whites ..McCain, Guliani, Romney??? Conclusion: McCain wins.

Obama vs McCain: War will be bad for McCain.

    Conclusion: Obama wins.

I just surprised myself. I wouldn’t have gone that way without walking through it.

Doesn’t make me happy as I’m a Romney supporter.

  2. Well, I am not a Romney supporter, but I think there’s a damn good chance he could get the GOP nomination. A damn good chance. Too many hard core conservatives are very pissed off at McCain, and way too many just don’t trust Giulliani. Romney has some issues, but he is a very attractive, compelling, and articulate candidate.

I probably won’t vote for him. But I wouldn’t be all that tore up if he won either.

  3. As I see it, we have a corrupt political government running at this very moment. In our process to help other to try to build a democratic government, we filter that same way of thinking to them.

First thing we need to do is change the whole process by voting in leadership that does not have the ties in politics and influence associated with our country’s big business.

Why are we considering sending more troops? Our current plan isn’t working the way it should, a new one should be drafted using information from all sources. From what I have been able to gather here in Iraq, the very politicians put in place here are not trying to do as much as they should be doing to gain control of their country.

Processes should be made to literally leave them no option but to start to take control as we adjust fire and proceed to focus more on eliminating the flow of arms into the country. Sanctions need to be considered and viewed on countries not controlling their borders and allowing people from the surrounding countries to enter.

The companies we have working in Iraq are hiring outside workers to pay less for the work and are pocketing more as they charge the US outrageous prices. The whole flow of revenue through our military and political process needs to be reviewed and revamped.

The support we give to countries around the world, sometimes even as we are unwelcomed, needs to be reviewed and controlled. The US has talked about health issue, education and many other situations to be looked at in our own country. We need to start from the source, from the moment the tax money is paid to where that dollar is going.

An actual outside agency not affiliated with any official should be brought in to do the budget and review all of our spending and programs we could both eliminate or change to meet needs of the American people. First is growth, which is done through small businesses. Our economy relies more heavily on small businesses and new jobs. The larger businesses that are using their money to hire cheaper labor and ship their products, even unfinished, to the US are costing our country.

There are most certainly many aspects I am not aware of, but the basic concept and our ability to adapt to new situations needs to be done as we head into a new age for the world and situations never before seen in the American history.

    Thank you,
    Serelen

  4. Serelen..do I understand correctly that you are currently in Iraq? Are you military or a native?

You make a lot of sense.
