Hillary on SNL…

…”Is there anyone in this fu**ing country who didn’t know I was running for President?”

If you subscribe to the philosophy that the best and most effective humor is that which is based in truth, then you’ll find this pretty damned funny.

In case you missed it on Saturday Night Live this weekend (and, judging from their ratings, most of you missed it) here’s the Chris Matthews interview with Hillary Rodham Clinton on “Hard Ball”:

h/t Allah Pundit at HotAir, where Mojave Mark made this comment:

I’m noticing a lot of nervous laughter in the audience…

I noticed that too, and that made the skit all the more effective (albeit unintentionally).

Oh, and make sure to watch this short joke from this weekend’s SNL, too. Which, apparently, is now a running joke on SNL…

Maybe it’s time to start watching SNL again?

  1. I know it’s pointless to respond to this but Mojave Mark’s logic makes no sense.

The way I understand you the nervous laughter is a result of the liberals in the audience who are as uncomfortable as Senator Clinton herself when it is alleged that she has grown increasingly critical of the war as Obama’s points in opinion polls rise.

Shouldn’t the liberals in the audience be just the ones to be supporting Obama and not Clinton? Shouldn’t they be laughing hardest as their long held anti-war position is vindicated? The right, in it’s hatred of Senator Clinton, can’t understand the fact that she is not supported by liberals.

If we can use Daily Kos readers as a proxy for liberal Democrats- not exact, I’m sure- their preferences for the Democratic nomination are quite different than the right-wing fantasies:
    Edwards 35
    Obama 28
    Clark 17
    Richardson 5
    H. Clinton 4
    Biden 1
    Kerry 1
    Vilsack 0
    Dodd 0
    Gravel 0

It’s probably worth mentioning that Daily Kos readers are somewhat whiter and have more years of education than the Democratic base as a whole; Senator Clinton is still winning polling matchups among Democrats at large. But among the group you would call ‘liberal activists’- not so much.

  2. Edwards/Obama/far left liberals, no surprise. Pro abortion, even partial birth abortion, Robin Hoods, open borders love everybody but the white christian, scared to death of “perceived” loss of privacy.

    No surprise here.

  3. Wow, Dianne, that is pretty extreme rhetoric. I mean seriously: love everybody but the white christian? Edwards is far left? Clark? Which position of Obama’s do you feel is out of the mainstream.

Dianne, who do you think stays pregnant for 8 months before having an abortion? Isn’t it obvious that it is only women who are carrying fetuses that are non viable? I think we should save that decision for a woman and her physician.

  4. Preston — what I was inferring by the “nervous laughter” is that the ratio of Liberal bashing to Coservative (especially President Bush) bashing is usually pretty skewed at SNL.

Instance of the SNL crew actually making fun of or denigrating liberals (yes, Hillary is a Liberal who espouses some conservative ideas when it’s politically convenient for her to do so).

So, when they started to make fun of Hillary on SNL, I don’t think the audience initially realized that it was more a statement endorsing Sen. Obama than it was disparaging of Sen. Clinton.

Thus the nervous laughter eminated from their confusion over SNL making fun of one of their own.

Robbie- you must have missed the years 1993-2001.

  6. Everytime Hillary is confronted with the public perception that she is one cold and manipulative fish, her immediate response is a loud and long contrived laugh. After the tenth time of doing this, she isn’t helping herself.

  7. Anon- you’re aware that the person in the video is not actually Senator Clinton?

  8. I never listened to the video. Why? In the video, do ten different reporters confront her with the public perception that the public finds her cold and manipulative and she responses by laughing like a hyenna, too? If so, I guess art is merely imitating real life.
