For daring to have an opinion they disagree with

What does the left do when they disagree with an opinion that is not lockstep with their own agenda? They try to shout it down, shut it down, or censor it. Freedom of speech for me but not for thee, indeed.

Take for instance the newest nutroots meltdown over FOX News hosting the first Democratic debate.

I’ll admit that FOX news has a bias — in support of US Troops, in favor of family values, and in favor of the majority of Americans who are conservatives. We’re a large audience (bigger than both CNN and MSNBC’s audiences combined), and we were tired of being force-fed a liberal agenda from the rest of the television MSM, so we made FOX News are channel of choice.

Why can’t the left see or admit that same bias slanted to the port at nearly every single other news agency?

The Left has the slanted news of ABC, CBS (Fake-but-accurate news), NBC, CNN, MSNBC, and PBS to feed their thrist for slanted-to-the-Left news that is against the war and the troops, against the President of the United States, and in-the-face of the majority of Americans who are conservatives.

But that’s not enough for the left — instead they have gone on the attack to “discredit” and “boycott” FOX News because they do not agree with the direction that FOX’s “bias” slants.

Not so fast says MoveOn, Free Press, and others. Petition campaigns are under way, aimed at the Nevada Democrats and the DNC, applying serious heat to drop Fox’s control of the event because it is not a legitimate news organization. There are also plans to target Fox’s advertisers in a campaign reminiscent of an earlier successful one against Sinclair Broadcasting for its nightly rabid right-wing harangues that were forced upon their affiliate’s news shows.

What do Liberals do when they disagree with conservative speech? Try to shut it down and censor it. It’s the Liberal way. Next thing you know Liberals will be knocking at your door to beat you up for disagreeing with them…what? Already happened? Well, shit…

The Important Action Itemâ„¢ henchman, Chris Bowers at MyDD, has issued an IAI at BlogPac to let the Democratic party know that they “oppose having Fox News host a presidential forum”. Of course they do. They’re the party of “Oppose Everything, Stand for Nothing”.

I’m not sure what the Nutroots is more upset about — the fact that FOX News is hosting the debate, or that they weren’t asked to (I”m betting it’s equal parts of each). After all, it’s their party now, and they can “take you out” if you disagree with them.

So are you talking about the head of ABC news that claims that everyone worships Matt Drudge?

Or maybe CNN where the 24 hour Brittney/ Anna Nichole Channel enlightens us on the most important issues of the day?

In any case, no one is ’shutting down’ Fox News- liberals simply think that it is insane for Democrats to think they will receive a fair showing on a right wing channel.

Well, you are wrong about one thing. Most Americans aren’t conservatives. Only about 35% are conservative.

Pity.

RE: ABC — glad you mentioned them…things like this are why I mention them:

A top producer at ABC NEWS declared “Bush makes me sick” in an email obtained by the DRUDGE REPORT.

John Green, currently executive producer of the weekend edition of GOOD MORNING AMERICA, unloaded on the president in an ABC company email obtained by the DRUDGE REPORT.

“If he uses the ‘mixed messages’ line one more time, I’m going to puke,” Green complained.

Hard to imagine his bias not creeping into his production of the news…

And I’m refering to the CNN that produced (before he had to resign) the likes of Eason Jordan

I do appreciate the humour behind the Anna Nichole Smith and Brittany Spears remarks though — it’s insane that this is what passes as wall-to-wall, round-the-clock news these days…

When Republican debates are held on CBS, you won’t see the Right-o-sphere ogranizing protests, sponsor boycotts, veiled threats, and “important action items” like is happening with the Nutroots.

And CBS is at least as biased against the GOP as FOX is against Dems.

And CBS is at least as biased against the GOP as FOX is against Dems.

Tell that to the Clintons from 1992 to 2001. They were picked to pieces on phony ‘controversies’. Tell that to Al Gore who correctly pointed out that Bush had opposed legislation that he was then campaigning on but the press was more interested in the color of his suit.

I think you fail to distinguish the difference between some reporters at CBS who share some ideology with the Democrats with an entire network that sees itself as part of an ideological movement.

(I highlight some- because you’re not going to see much sympathy for fair trade deals on CBS. Viacom knows which side the bread is buttered on and is not going to be an advocate against loose trade restrictions: whatever the cost to American workers)

Aside from that take a look what shows are on- 80 or 90 shows for the investor class: ‘Business Week’ or ‘Money Report’ or whatever- not so much for the working class. Advertiser supported broadcasting is by its nature slanted to serve with those with the most disposable income.

i definately see bias in both FOX and NBC and its not going to go away because you can never be in the center of either political faction. the reason there are more left swaying news because overall the country is liberal. And no its not because the liberal media has brainwashed the public. its because the conservative right is corrupt. and frankly i am tired of Bush saying “you’re sending the troops mixed messages”

I’ve just started watching FOX. It’s very funny - I had heard American media could be a little wacky, but a News channel like FOX!

No one should make decisions based on such biased reporting. I dare say they speak sense occasionally, rarely, never?

News stations should report the news; it is not good to have an opinion, you present the facts and the viewer decides. Thankfully, you have the BBC. he he

First I would like to say that I agree that there has been and still is yellow journalism on both sides of the fence. This is the problem. Both FOX and CNN need to be shut down. If you honestly believe that FOX is not yellow and biased then apparently you are an idiot, or maybe Rupert Murdoch writing under a pen name.
Time and again I see FOX broadcasts where the ” journalists ” ( and I use that term loosely ) simply shout down anyone they disagree with I just watched a segment on Youtube where the FOX reporters repeatedly stated that thier guest was not answering their questions. The guest was unable to answer because she couldn’t be heard over the cries of ” see you are evading the question again .”
During the SC Republican debate the ” focus group ” of paid actors were time and again led twoard what the network wanted them to say. Questions such as ” Well why is it that all of you think John Mccain won this debate? ” At that point no one had said who they thought had won. Or take for example that after the debate they allowed each candidate time for a interview minus Ron Paul. I understand that the execs at FOX feel he is crazy, in fact I am not so sure they arem’t right. BUt in unbiased news reporting he should have had his time as well.
Now years ago I stopped watching CNN because of their liberal bias. But FOX has taken it to the next level. They are little more than a mouthpiece for the Neo Cons. And by the way the Neo Cons stand for everything the true republicans hate. So why all these supposed conservatives support them and their news channel baffles me. O can only guess that it is a bunch of uneducated morons that have no real idea what the politicians they support stand for.

One quick question for the author of this blog. I see you are a veteran. ( For which you should be saluted ) Were you ever in combat? ( Grenada and Gulf War one do not count ) The reason I ask is that, I see in your blog quite a bit about supporting our troops. I support our troops whole heartedly. I support their right to not be shot at and blown up so that a few people at the top of government and Haliburton can get rich. I support them coming home, I support them being able to see their families not spend their life in a foreign country.
I find it very hard to understand why any veteran would support this war. America has not fought in a justifiable war since WWII. I also see this as being why since then we have lost or tied in every conflict. It is very hard to get behind the war effort when almost everyone knows that there is no good reason for us to be in it.
1. There were no weapons of mass destruction.
2. There were no terrorist training camps.
3. Iraq was relatively peaceful before we got there.
So please tell me why we should be fighting there? I would even be ok with the answer that we are fighting there because we are going to expand our empire and get some cheap fuel. Oh yeah I forgot.
After points one two and three became apparent the propaganda machine at FOX took over and started telling us that within a year we would see one dollar a gallon gasoline. Instead we have three dollar a gallon gas. What was the benefit of invadeing?
