Update to this story on Air Force Staff Sergeant Michell Manhart who posed naked for Playboy magazine.
After completing their investigation on the matter, Manhart has been demoted to Senior Airman (from E-5 to E-4), and her active duty status has been reverted to National Guard status.
“I’m disappointed in our system,” Manhart told The Associated Press on Wednesday. “They went too far with it.”
Manhart said that she was reverted to her Air National Guard status and that she submitted a “resignation” to the Guard, which she said is pending. Manhart was a member of the Iowa Air National Guard before going on extended active duty.
At this point they should honor her resignation request — she should be released with a “less than honorable” discharge.
I hope her 15-minutes of exposure were worth throwing away her career for.
I like her faux shock that this happened to her. I wonder how come her husband is never asked to comment?
Kicking her out was way overkill. A letter of repremand would be about the right level of punishment for something this trivial.
It wasn’t that long ago that pictures like these were nose art on our airplanes, and every squadron had a ‘pneudrallics’ video library.
This faux moral outrage from the Air Force is very cloying.
Well, guess its just another way of “America” showing its fear and chlidishness towards the human body. She posed nude, whoopie!!!! Her perogative, I for one as a military brat for many years say, to hell with the Air Force if they can’t accept someone posing nude that is it that branch. Hell its a good way to show that the Airforce isn’t just full off airheaded sky jockies. Good for her!!! I salute you Michelle Manhart and say to heck with those that fear change, grow up! She didn’t bomb a building.
THIS WOMAN IS DELUSIONAL. IF SHE EXPECTS TO HOLD A RANK IN THE MILITARY – THAN SHE NEEDS TO ACT LIKE A PROFESSIONAL. I AM GLAD THEY AXED HER.
Our soldiers are expected to with hold their professionality..including their attire…haircut…etc.. If you can’t be outside without your head gear then what the hell where you thinking to strip your clothes off for the whole world to see..That is a disgrace to our uniform and what it stands for!!!.besides she is working along side these soldiers that are going to see her..how uncomfortable…she’s supposed to be there LEADER not the one setting this kind of example!!!!!!

This woman is a selfish whacko. 13 years in the Air Force and still an E-5?? She’s going nowhere. I got an email from someone claiming to be Manhart from a MySpace website claiming she got an “honorable discharge with (get this) ‘VALOR’”. Yeah, right.
