As I wrote here, local pro-illegal-immigration activists around Austin are doing backflips with manufactured-rage about children being detained at a Family Detention Center for illegal immigrants awaiting deportation.

Today, protestors are gathered (while most of us non-professional activists are at work) in Taylor, TX to demand the closure of the immigrant detention center.

Here’s the image and caption that is currently running at the top of the Austin American-Statesman web site. Notice anything wrong with the caption at the bottom of the picture (answer: there are more than one errors or omissions)?

Protestors in Hutto

Well, first there are the obvious grammatical errors. I’m sure that first sentence is supposed to read “Texas United for Families, a coalition group, protests in front of the Hutto Redisdential Center in…”

The second, and biggest, error is in the second sentence, which should read: “The protest was held in response to the center holding illegal immigrant families.”

Some (perhaps even most) of the children might be US citizens while there parents are here illegally (otherwise known as “anchor babies”). It’s unfortunate that these childrens must be detained with and for the illegal acts of their illegal parents. But the only other option is to turn these kids over to Child Protective Services and the foster care system.

The one option that should not be considered is simply to let their criminal parents go free because of their anchor babies. But that’s exactly what the protestors want.

If the Statesman is in need of a competent freelance caption writer (and make no mistake—they are), I’d be glad to lend them a hand. In fact, they can have the above rewrites gratis.

One Response to “Protestors Demand that Illegal Immigrants Should NOT be Detained”

  1. They’re making these tent cities sound like concentration camps in the MSM. People without jackets, food, medicine…blah blah blah

The parents have the option of leaving with their children, don’t they?

    Well…I say GO
