First we had Rep. David Obey (D-WI) calling the Left “idiot Liberals”.

Then we had Democratic presidential-hopeful Dennis Kucinich calling Democrats “cowards”.

And now we have the über-liberal L.A. Times saying that Democrats are “imploding” on the War in Iraq:

AFTER WEEKS OF internal strife, House Democrats have brought forth their proposal for forcing President Bush to withdraw U.S. troops from Iraq by 2008. The plan is an unruly mess: bad public policy, bad precedent and bad politics. If the legislation passes, Bush says he’ll veto it, as well he should.

And that’s just the opening salvo in a much longer editorial.

AJ Strata opines:

They promised a change in Iraq, but never once realized surrender was not an acceptable option to America. Now they own the war with Bush and are showing themselves to be incompetent boobs who cannot even pass a bill, let alone produce a solution other than defeat.

Were the elections of 2006 a mandate for the Democrats? Yes. In many ways the election results were a vote for change in this country. However, as the Dems are learning now, they do not have a mandate for defeat. And thus far, the only options they’ve offered have been for just that.
