On a scale of 1-10, where 10 is the best physical-fitness condition of my life (the time right after finishing Basic Training and AIT) and 1 is the worst — I’m probably at a 2 right now.
So I’ve signed up for a 4-week (5 days per week) fitness bootcamp. And 6:15 this evening is my first class.
I looked into hiring a personal trainer, but the cost was anywhere between $70-110 per hour. However, I’ll get the same benefits of a personal trainer in a small group setting (~15 students in the class) for under $20/hour.
I wasn’t too anxious about getting started again; I enjoy exercising, and am a pretty good athelete who just needs to get back into the groove of things.
However, last night during my “pre-evaluation” with the trainer, she told me that I’m the only male who signed up for this Co-ed group. They offer women-only and men-only courses, too. Now I’m just hoping to keep up and not embarrass myself.

UPDATE —Â Two other guys signed up for the class at the last minute, so I’m not the only guy in class. Yesterday’s workout kicked. my. ass. But in a good way that makes me look forward to going back today.

Good for you. It’s crap being fat! Commence Trumpet Blowing: I got on my bike about 5 years ago - lost a few stone and the next thing I knew, I was cycling the highest mountain in the Tour-de-France with a Tour-de-France veteran and an Olympic silver medalist.
You know you’re a better person when you’re fit. Good luck.
