Amongst many other reasons why I love my job and the company I work for — I just received the following e-mail from the president of our company:
There has been some discussion in regards to having a range day. If you are interested in an informal day at the range reply via email (ladies, don’t be shy!). If you don’t own a gun I’m sure we can arrange amongst ourselves to get you some trigger time. We have a good number of military-trained shooters who can instruct first timers.
We plan on having a cease fire for a luncheon, Texas style cook out, so you grill masters sound off. Interest level will determine if we proceed with this, as we would like to rent the range facility for the day. Once we get a good head count I will finalize the arrangements with the owner.
This is a commercial range and all range rules must be observed; I may be able to arrange a mass briefing with the range master.
The company is funding the range usage and food, but we may need some folks to provide grills, coolers, etc. Come out and enjoy some fine Texas barbecue, good company, and shoot some targets.
A day-off from work to go put some rounds down range? Paid for by our company? Plus a day of bbq, beverages, and camaraderie? Damn, I love my job!

That’s great – I admire companies that do stuff like that for morale. I’m sure the day off isn’t an inexpensive expense, but I bet it pays off in happy employees who can’t get poached for another dime an hour.
