Cathy Lynn Henderson was convicted for the 1994 murder of 3-month old Brandon Baugh. She had been babysitting the child and his 2-year old sister for three months prior to the murder.
After she was arrested (in Missouri), she drew authorities a map of where she buried Brandon’s body inside a cardboard box in a shallwow grave outside of Temple, TX. And autopsy determined that Brandon died of a fractured skull.
A Travis County jury convicted Henderson, 50, of capital murder in 1995 after prosecutors argued that she, while baby-sitting Brandon and his older sister, deliberately slammed Brandon’s head against a flat surface with enough force to shatter the base of his skull.
Doctors testified that the injuries could not have been caused by an accidental fall, as Henderson claimed.
On Monday, visiting state District Judge Jon Wisser announced that he would move Henderson’s execution date from April 18 to June 13 to give her lawyers more time to appeal.
Because 12 years on death row hasn’t been long enough for her lawyers to file all their appeals or find any evidence that would exonerate their client from the murder of a 3-month old child.
