I’m conflicted about being away on vacation this week — part of me (the compulsive blogger/writer/news junkie) feels compelled to try to catch up on and be a part of the narrative of this week’s tragic events in Virginia.

Another part of me is almost glad for the opportunity to escape being inundated with an overload of related stories and updates every five minutes (our current room doesn’t have a TV — just a great balcony with a beautiful view of the Caribbean).

Cho Seung-Hui

Cho Seung-Hui

Seeing the pictures of Cho Seung-Hui, though, has brought up such an ugly visceral reaction in me, and all I can think is, “Thank God he’s dead.”

Dan Riehl has an interesting post as to how he thinks that V. Tech failed their students. I’m not so sure I agree.

  1. Posting Cho’s publicity photos is giving him just what he wanted in my view. I’ll admit to a morbid curiousity myself, but we have to see that future psychopaths are going to be motivated by this promise of infamy.

I won’t be surprised if there is a copy cat murder in the near future.

  2. God bless those at Virginia Tech.

Cho Seung-Hui failed those students, not V-Tech. We learn about the atrocities of mental illness every day in every media’s bend. Label it evil or psychotic, which ever suits you… but it does exist and regardless of precautions taken, it will in some scheme have an unfortunate effect.

I could really go on and on about this, but I’m not in the mood to be pissed off at this son of a bitch anymore. And I agree, thank God he’s dead.

And the media needs to honor and pay tribute to the victims and survivors of this tragedy, and take Cho’s stupid face out of the infamous spot light.

  3. Preston , it is very funny that you mentioned a copy cat. recently, here in AZ, a local college received a threat of a gunman lose on campus. sure enough the campus was evacuated, but noone was found. i personally believe that this wont be the only one that will happen. some lunatic will try to outdue this piece of crap

  4. The students failed each other. If they had all resisted by any means possible, in concert, then 32 would not have died. Cho’s head would have caved in after the fifth desk bounced off of it.

  5. Wow- the Keyboard Rambos make an appearance on Urban Grounds to blame the victims! Very classy.

  6. We feel for the victims family’s left behind to mourn what Mr. Cho has caused. You are where you belong Cho burning in hell. You stated in your video to the press that we raped your soul, now may the devil have his turn you bastard…..

God bless the family’s of all thirty two victims!

  7. Maybe you should look at the reason why he kille 32 people.
By the way, Cho is not frying, he is free.

    • Just because he was made fun of doesnt mean he can kill 32 people. he obviously needed a lot of help but was too selfish to get any. His soul is for sure in hell. You can’t just get away from killing 32 people…

  8. cho’s brother should burn in hell too, and may one day someone as heartless kill you you bastard.

  9. I love cho and cho ,you was loves by me.<3

    • are you insane? why would you love a guy that killed 32 people? and injured a lot more! that’s just messed up in my opinion…

  10. Cho took my brothers life….

    burn in hell Cho
    i hate you
