I find it interesting that Sen. Dianne Feinstein (D-CA) has “quietly” stepped down from her chairmanship on the powerful Military Construction Appropriations subcommittee:
(CNSNews.com) – Government watchdog groups want more answers as to why Sen. Dianne Feinstein (D-Calif.) stepped down from a military appropriations subcommittee at a time questions were being asked [about] billions of dollars in federal defense contracts going to her husband’s companies.
Feinstein resigned her post as chairwoman of the Senate Subcommittee on Military Construction Appropriations last week.
The decision came less than two months after Metro Newspapers, a group of alternative weekly papers in northern California, detailed the number of defense contracts awarded to Perini Corp. and URS Corp., both of which her husband, Richard C. Blum, has ownership, according to the newspapers.
I find it even more interesting that she has the temerity to remain on the Senate Ethics Committee despite this egregious conflict of interest on her part.
Perhaps ethics does not mean what she thinks it means…
And I find it more interesting yet that Ms. Feinstein’s hometown newspaper (the San Francisco Chronicle) has yet to report on this big story (don’t think it’s a biggie? Close your eyes and imagine if Sen. Kay Bailey Hutchison ([R-TX] — the Ranking Member of the minority party on the MILCON subcommittee — had done the exact same thing. Now, think of the media swarm and the convening grand juries and the selection of “special prosecutors”).
Culture of corruption? You bet your ass it is.

Here is a classic example of the Republican party screwing up. The Democratic party would have made sure Feinstein was crucified in the press had she been a Republican. Over and over again the Republicans let things go by just as with Scooter Libbey, Jefferson, etc.
