Old San Juan was a blast. What an amazing and beautiful city old city. We spent most of the day walking around the forts (El Moro mostly) and cemetary, which were built in 1539.

Tuesday morning at 8:00 a.m., my wife and I are boarding a flight to San Juan, Puerto Rico for seven days of lounging on the beach, snorkeling, diving, drinking mohitos, boogie boarding, surfing, and general rest and relaxation.

Ryan Clark: First Virginia Tech Victim Identified

Tonight we know the name of the first victim, Ryan Clark, the RA who was shot at West Ambler Johnston Hall dormitory. Brendan Porter (a student at Virginia Tech) on Anderson Cooper 360 on CNN said that he knew Ryan and knew that he was the one who was shot.

For now it looks like a single shooter (who is now dead) gunned down at least 32 people on campus this morning. I’ll post more this evening after more details are revealed, but for now therse people are following the story closely:

I know exactly which pier the story refers to, as I’ve surfed near and off that pier numerous times when I lived in Houston, and know how strong the rip current can be near the rock jetty that juts out before the pier.

Final Student Loan Payment

This morning, 21 years after taking my first student loan, I dropped my final payment to the Department of Education into the mail box (my final check was for $13.86).

Are they suggesting that we should nuke the sun in order to stave off “global warming”? Because, really, the only way to stop global warming is to stop the sun. Do you think they understand and are prepared for the consequences of that?
