The Demorats must have this war fail in order to have that one big “I told you so” moment before the ’08 election. But they are also savvy enough to know that they can’t just pull the plug without some serious backlash from the electorate.

The truth is, a lot of the “moderates” (that typically make their decision as to who they vote for based on how they “feel” about the political climate at the time of the election) were only in the Defeat-O-Crats corner during the last election cycle because they were voting against Bush, not voting for Demoncrats. Since Bush is already a lame duck President, the Democrat Party doesn’t have that working for them this time around.
