Glenn Reynolds points us to this diary at the Daily Kos, where Shii tries to make the case that the Kossacks should consider supporting and contributing money to Rep. Ron Paul (R-TX).
However, the majority of the commenters disagree with Shii, and think that Rep. Paul is a “nutjob” or a “whacko”.
Those who do support him do so because they think Rep. Paul would legalize drugs (What? Kossacks are a bunch of dope-smoking college kids and burnt-out hippies? No way!).
I found this statement from Shii interesting:
Currently, Ron Paul is being desperately shoved aside by the Right as a crazy libertarian who could never get the vote.
I’m pretty far to the right — and I’ve thrown my full support behind Rep. Paul. But I do think that he’s been effectively marginalized by the big three (McCain, Rudy, and Romney — soon to be the big four with Fred), and more so by the media.

From the comments section of the same article, and one very reflective and representative of what’s so wrong with the Left and the Peace movement:
From lenlarga:
But Nothing IS Worse Than War
I believe in Social Security and all the rest. But I believe much more that the warfare state in America must be dismantled.
Nothing is worse than War? I couldn’t disagree more. As John Stuart Mill said:
War is an ugly thing, but not the ugliest of things. The decayed and degraded state of moral and patriotic feeling which thinks that nothing is worth war is much worse. The person who has nothing for which he is willing to fight, nothing which is more important than his own personal safety, is a miserable creature, and has no chance of being free unless made or kept so by the exertions of better men than himself.

Paul is very anti-Israel. I’m very pro-Israel. So, for that reason alone, I would never consider voting for him.
