Poe vs Byrd

The knee-jerk Left-o-sphere has their collective panties in a twist because a Republican — Rep. Ted Poe (R-TX) — quoted Nathan Bedford Forrest, founder of the KKK, whilst on the House floor.

The quote he used?

“Git thar the fustest with the mostest” — one of the most famous quotes regarding war strategy. I heard this quote so often when I was in the Army, that its source was irrelevant and unimportant.

But don’t let context or obvious facts get in the way of manufactured/faked outrage:

  • There is nothing offensive about the quote itself (unless you’re a War-is-Always-Wrong liberal, whereas anything that is pro-war is offensive to you).
  • The quote in question? Nathan Bedford Forrest, the Klansman in question, never even said those words.
  • That an actual Klansman is actually on the floor of the House — Sen./Kleagle Robert Byrd (D-WV).

Does the left get this riled up when somebody quotes the Grand Kleagle from West Virginia on the floor? Do you think the Left can even detect their own hypocrisy on this one?

_______

Yes, this one gets the “Stupid News” tag.

Did the left even raise an eyebrow when Byrd went on television and referred to people as “white niggers”? Nope.

It pains me, but I have to agree with you that this is faux outrage. This is one of those “gotcha” things that annoy the s### out of me, whether they are on the right or on the left.

OTOH, Byrd is a great Senator who has more than atoned for his past.

I quite agree.

I don’t understand what is so offensive with common language?
Surely you have to have an inferiority complex to be offended by any english spoken in your direction?

Admitedly, one must question why another would speak toward them with distain, but if your OK in yourself, who cares?

Why sould someone elses comments toward you have any impact on you at all?

What’s worse is when people not associated with a typical dispute decide in their wisdom that a dreadful, racist, anti-semmetic, sexist, ageist has been uttered and therefore all hell breaks loose until the perpertraitors are brought to justice.

It’s a bit of a shame, because I always thought Liberals in the US where the good guys. This just highlights a tit for tat political agenda and is so transparent, it makes the disinterested US citizen even less bothered about taken an active voting stance.

Bring back Clinton I say! :-)

Dan—Byrd is the exact opposite of a great Senator. And has done nothing but rob the tax payers of America since 1959.

He has not atoned for anything. The country will be a better place when he is no longer in Congress.

Forrest never said that and not only did he not start the kkk he called for it to disband.

Got something you want to say?
