Annika finally gets around to posting the results of the numerous polls that have littered her sidebar over the years, including the answer to this one:

Q — If you busted into Annika’s house, what would she most likely shoot you with?

A — The correct answer is Heckler & Koch USP in .45 ACP, not the Sig Sauer 9 mil that 50% of you guessed.

There are only 11 days left in the Annika’s Journal Farewell Tourâ„¢, which is too bad. You can never have enough good looking, smart (she’s about to pass her bar exams), conservative, gun-totting, blondes in the blogosphere.

She’ll be missed when she’s gone.

_______

Oh, and if you break into our house, you’re most likely to get shot with a Mossberg HS 410 (a .410 pump shotgun), based on this recommendation:

The smallest of the shotgun calibers does seem like an odd choice to those of the “bigger is better” philosophy and it would be an odd choice for a police or military weapon, but it makes perfect sense for a home security shotgun.

A .410 shotgun, at the typical home security distance of near-contact range out to 25 feet, has more short-range stopping power than the vaunted .45 ACP, the .357 Magnum, or the .44 Magnum. The .410 won’t deafen you the way a 12 or 20 gauge shotgun could, not will it have excessive muzzle flash or recoil.

In addition — and this is very important — the .410, loaded with birdshot will not over-penetrate walls as 12 and 20 gauge shotguns typically will. All bullets fired by pistols and rifles (even .22s) will easily over-penetrate multiple layers of sheetrock, going into other rooms or even other homes, potentially wounding or killing someone other than your intended target.

One Response to “Q & A of the Day: What Would Annie Shoot?”

I’m not anti-gun or anything but I find the fantasies gun advocates have of shooting intruders to be a little creepy.

But now I think about it not so different than the fantasies that they have about US foreign policy. It is just too unsexy of an idea to contemplate that easiest way to remove AQI from Iraq is to leave and let the Shia and other Sunni factions sort it out.

Got something you want to say?
