Little more than a political-grandstanding opportunity, apparently.
Sen. Edwards — who never had the sack nor the integrity to serve himself — wants to co-opt Memorial Day parades to promote his political agenda, which is the antithesis of remembering and honoring better men than himself.
The Silk Pony wants everybody to take anti-war signs to the Memorial Day parades this year. Edwards and the Defeat-o-crats thinks that bringing our troops home in defeat — despite the overwhelming desire to stay the course by the troops themselves — is supporting them.
Supporting them is helping find a way to win the war on terror. Not finding the most politically expedient way to submit to it.
As a combat veteran who will be riding in a Memorial Day parade, I can tell you that nothing could be more inappropriate and unappreciated by troops and Veterans at Memorial Day parades than anti-war posters and protesters.
If you have a single honest bone in your body when you say that you support the troops, then you’ll leave your signs at home and just bring your sincere respect.

Uncle Jimbo isn’t a fan of the Silk Pony, either:
Oh that’s special John, we as a nation set aside one day to recognize the ultimate sacrifice made by so many better men than you, and you feel free to push them aside so you can grab some spotlight. You miserable empty suit, you pathetic, girly man, you lying, cheating, petty, little narcissist. And don’t tell me to stop calling him names, he has earned a grand total of zero respect for anything he has done and earned trainloads of disgust for his shameful, disrespectful actions.
Amen to that, Uncle Jimbo (who did have the stones — he’s a retired Special Operations Master Sergeant).
Jack Army (a former U.S. Army recruiter who is now deployed to Iraq) has a suggestion on how you can really show your support on Memorial day.
Spree at Wake Up America:
A day meant to honor our fallen soldiers and John Edwards in an act of utter disrespect to our troops encourages, in fact, calls for.. a war protest.
If you’re still confused or or doubtful of how veterans and the troops really feel about holding a protest at Memorial Day parades, ask them:
Your feigned patriotism is criminally laughable. I am a “troop†and I find your ridiculous attempt to link true patriotic organizations to yours is indicative of a deep psychological malaise.
And…
Congratulations on your idea to turn a holiday tributing our veterans and military into a day of protest. Only the sickest, most vile of minds and cowardly of hearts could have come up with such a disgusting concept. God help me you’ll not win an election if it comes to THIS veteran voting for you. Go have yourself a nice little spa day, you don’t have the intestinal fortitude to run this country.
Read a few more of the letters and comments from the guy and girls over at the Gathering of Eagles forum.
After you’ve read a few dozen reactions, let me know if you still think holding a war protest at a Memorial Day parade is in the spirit of honoring war veterans.

I didn’t think there was much more John Edwards could do to make me like him less, until this. He’s the worst of the Democratic candidates.
