Barak Obama

Socialism

You just know that wherever he is right now, Sen. Barak Obama is laughing his ass off at how stupid Hillary is. And John Edwards is wondering how Hillary stole his super-duper-secret wealth-redistribution plan Economic Plan.

MANCHESTER, N.H. (AP) — Presidential hopeful Hillary Rodham Clinton outlined a broad economic vision Tuesday, saying it’s time to replace an “on your own” society with one based on shared responsibility and prosperity.

he Democratic senator said what the Bush administration touts as an ownership society really is an “on your own” society that has widened the gap between rich and poor.

“I prefer a ‘we’re all in it together’ society,” she said. “I believe our government can once again work for all Americans. It can promote the great American tradition of opportunity for all and special privileges for none.”

That means pairing growth with fairness, she said, to ensure that the middle-class succeeds in the global economy, not just corporate CEOs.

“There is no greater force for economic growth than free markets. But markets work best with rules that promote our values, protect our workers and give all people a chance to succeed,” she said. “Fairness doesn’t just happen. It requires the right government policies.”

Someone tell me how what she is describing is not Socialism?

If people are forced to relinquish or “share their prosperity” once they have attained it, what incentive is there for people to prosper in the first place? The answer is None.

Which makes one wonder, just how much of her own personal prosperity is Hillary willing to relinquish to others? (Vonski says he could get by if Hillary and Bill would each just send him $11k of their prosperity)

Are you planning to quit your job if Clinton is elected President?

Dick Cheney contributed 75% of his income to charity.

Hillary donated her used underwear.

What was that about ‘we’re all in it together’?

I think you need to consider the audience she was talking to … a type of technical high school that promotes the trades, etc. (at least as far as I can tell). Actually, if you take it in the context of her audience, I think she’s got a great point. Actually, my husband graduated from Baltimore Polytechnic Institute, a high school which geared its academic program to the Engineering field. It was a public all boys high school at the time. What he learned there led to a lifetime career as a registered land surveyor. You didn’t have to have money to get in, just good grades. Actually, the school is still in existence today as a public coed science and engineering H.S. and extremely successful.

Of course, I do agree in the broader sense, you could equate what she was saying with socialism.

dianne,

i’ve taught there in recent years. what year did your husband graduate?

Adam…long ago, 1964. What did you teach?

Just for the record, i’m a capitalist with social tendencies. :)

Jonny

i taught history, pe, & was a librarian there from 04- 06. my father was a graduate in 1973 and to me that seems long ago. your husbands former school building is now the administrative offices for the entire baltimore city school system. i assume he attended poly when it was on north ave. i’m sure you guys know, but it’s been on cold spring for 5+ decades.

just for the record, i’m an idealist with realistic tendencies!

adam

And god forbid those who argue against you hey Adam? :)

Jonny “Butt-Boy” - i’m guessing using your language helps you out a bit?

i’ve never heard you argue, but you declare well!

Adam, bet it seems strange to see people on blogs even older than your dad, but here we are, at least semi-computer literate and conversant.

And, just for the record, I’m a realist with idealistic tendencies..the kind who knows how long it will take to pay off a 30 year mortgage and figures out ways to cut that time by 2/3, retire early and spend the rest of my life having fun and not worry too much about the future until liberals get in control and ruin my plan…lol.

small world always makes me feel good. now i work in i.t. and i’m always especially excited when i see my senior generations embrace the advancements. without a desire to learn, folks tend to become marginalized.
don’t let anyone ruin that plan; if we could only all be so driven. i’m working on becoming less idealistic but it’s tough. good luck and i hope to see you in baltimore sometime.

Got something you want to say?
