I’m not questioning her ability as a sportswoman, she is obviously very capable — I’m not sure about female vaulting, but males don’t generally reach there full potential till there mid 20s, so her performance is sure to improve — but as a beautiful woman you have to admit that she is incredibly striking.

Read all about this Aliison Stokke thing in the newspaper. So I looked for some place to respond.

Who in the world allows young women to dress like that for athletic competitions? The skin-tight short shorts, inches away from the pubic bone. (I think they call them little-boy pants) And shirts so plunging and so tight you would think the girls couldn’t breathe. Is this a public school team we’re talking about? What kind of coach doesn’t see how distracting this is? And who is paying for these pornographic uniforms? Taxpayers? What kind of school board do we have in place here? The girls are either picking out their own uniforms without one thought to what people might think. Or, you have some pervert coach dressing up his girls. Okay, you can always say “the pornography is only in the mind of the viewer. These are just uniforms.” My eye. Fashion today is irresponsible. I find this sort of thing to be reverse harrassment. And entrapment. Plus, don’t the girls and supervisors realize that the very thing that has happened will usually happen when this sort of “freedom” is granted to young girls. Can you say “stalker” situation. Is this just one more way parents are giving in to the day-care generation? Everybody gets a trophy when they are kids. And when they get older they can play “let’s dress up like whores” in school. And get $1000 out of their parents for prom accessories. The parents are mostly to blame here. So they shouldn’t whine when photos of their daughter show up on the internet. People are just responding in a natural, animal-instinct sort of way. You can’t hold back a million years of genetics because it is now “fashionable” for young girl athletes to dress like tramps. showgirls. We’re dealing with a group of girls who have always thought it’s okay to dress like Britney Spears. Well, maybe they will also have Britney’s fate.

With all that “blaming women for getting me aroused”-type stuff. “how can they be allowed to dress like that”, etc. It sounds like the prelude to “she invited stalking and/or rape, dressing like she does”. 1) I really admire this girl; have you seen the interviews??? Doesn’t seam like she’s looking for “Model” attention, just trying to make her mark in this world with her athleticism, intellect, and maturity (very well spoken and humble for her situation).
2) Yes, she is very stunning, but this is just a really nice bonus that I hope she can leverage to her purpose, not others! Should help her “marketing” in a sport where one doesn’t get paid to use “performance enhancements” to help make her “millions”. Barry Bonds/ Pacman Jones/ Ray Lewis/ Ron Artest vs Ali Stokke??? Guess who gets my vote? The female ‘Peyton Manning’- not yet? But play that wholesome personality- FANS + Role Model = Success!
3) Her aspirations are way more Grad School than PB/ Maxim/ FHM. That should gain her an order of magnitude in “hotness” in Geekville. (Danica McKellar?)
4) A Pole Vaulter? Are you serious? I was more discus/ shot put/ 400 and still respected the Pole Vaulters (2 best friends). That takes some serious skill and athleticism and who else can propel themselves to these heights on just their own power? Think about it! If she were average looking, smart, and this athletic, I would be a big fan.
5) I have friends that fit this entire profile and just haven’t gotten the “press”. I hope she matures like they have and becomes the unbelievable woman that she can become. She should be an inspiration to her generation, not a “sex symbol” to our perverse, misguided, and internet addicted lot of sickos. She could just be another shopping addicted, self-absorbed, entitled princess that most her age are; BUT she’s not!
